sleep test finished

Post by DaveG » Thu Apr 16, 2009 1:04 pm

Tonight I am going to the doctors office to sleep there and be evaluated. I have had one doctor visit and was told I need to do this to determine weather I need the cpap machine. I have to be there at 8pm. I hope I can fall asleep early since I normally go to bed around 11:30pm-12:00am. Should be an interesting experience.

Hi Dave.

I had to report to my clinic at 8 as well and I was kind of...ummm...I don't usually fall asleep until 1-2am.

by the time they got through the paperwork, wiring me up etc it was about 11pm. I took my laptop with me so I could watch movies just in case I couldn't fall asleep. Prior to cpap I was pretty much on the sofa for 5 years so I got used to falling asleep with the tele on.

They didn't have any problems with me bringing the lap top in and I had my earphones in. Fell asleep watching DaVinci code.
These beautiful kids in my avi are my motivation for getting healthy and staying compliant. Need to be around a long time. See my new blog at http://creativekidscakeslife.blogspot.com/ Baking Blog http://feedingtheravenoushorde.blogspot.com

I understand totally. My fiance is 9 months pregnant and the baby is due next week. So she is a light sleeper due to being uncomfortable and cant sleep in the room with me normally. So I crash on the couch lots of nights watching TV. The place Im going to has cable TV and WIFI for laptops. Im sure I wil have plenty to keep me busy.

Well the test is finished. Had some trouble falling asleep with tubes jammed up my nose and wires attached to me everywhere. Overall it wasnt too bad though. Hopefully I snored like my usual self last night. I should be getting the results soon.

Welcome to the message board, DaveG.

Please let us know what the results are when you get them.

Did they put a CPAP mask on you at any point during the night?

You mentioned "Had some trouble falling asleep with tubes jammed up my nose." I figure you probably were talking about a piece of the PSG equipment that measures your airflow. But, I also wondered if you meant they came into the room during the night with a CPAP mask to put on you. (Thinking of the Swift mask with nasal pillows that might feel that way.)

no they didnt. I think they only put it on you if it gets bad. Not sure though. I will be seeing the doctor again soon and I'll know all the details. I'll be sure to post the results and any info I recieve.
