Mask Suggestions

Post by Volcanomom » Wed Apr 15, 2009 11:05 am

Hey everyone. I was here alot back in the summer & fall when I first got my CPAP, but all went so smoothly at first that once school started (I'm a teacher), I got swamped and haven't "hung out" in a while.

Here is my dilema:
I started out on a Swift LT nasal pillow - it worked really well at first, then I started having leakage problems. I think as I got more comfortable with the cpap I started moving and turning over more in my sleep and had more slippage.

I switched to the mask I have now which has a chin strap type hammock and it was better for a while. Now I'm having lots of leakage again. I don't know why it's good to start with then starts to be a problem!

I'm going to order a new mask and I'm thinking I need to go with a mask that covers my nose only. I don't have trouble keeping my mouth closed, so if I can just get a good seal around my nose I should be okay.

So - I'd love suggestions. I hope I'm not irritating anyone by asking rather than searching the board - I'm at school in between classes. Thanks so much, and HI to anyone who remembers me from the summer.

I love the Swift LT and have little or no leaks. How often do you clean it? and I would be careful not to overtighten it. I manage to collect 7 replacement pillows and change them daily and wash them all 1 a week. Good luck
