Question about Encore Software

Post by Trinity101 » Wed Apr 15, 2009 2:39 am

Hi- Well, I got my new APAP machine yesterday, and I am ready to order my reader and software- but I have been looking at the software and have a question-since it is not stated in the catalog online. Is the software Vista-compatible?? I have Vista 32-bit (Home ed.) Does that also apply to the Card reader?? Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but I would rather ask if I need to find an additional patch from someone,or whatever. Thanks, everyone.
Also- when he brought the machine, the DME guy asked if I wanted to try a new mask, so I decided to try a nasal mask-I ended up with a Comfort gel- and guess what- even for someone who thought she was an impossible mouth breather- it has worked great tonight! and NO chin strap so far! I am going to order a PAPcap to have if neded, but the only thing that really bugged me- he TOOK my old mask- the Quattro- I did not realize it was gone until after he left- why on earth did he do that? Who would want it after a month?? I am calling them back this morning and complaining; I wanted it for a backup- it is ridicuous! Good grief, Charlie Brown
Thanks for any help about the Vista thing. You all have been so great .

Hi Joan,

I am running EncorePro under Vista with no issue. I did recently upgrade for 32 bit to 64 bit and that was a challenge but even with Vista 64 bit you can get Encore Pro ver 1.8.49 to run just fine. As for the card reader, that also has not been an issue under either Vista 32 bit or 64 bit. I am using a "Mako DT3500".

As for the mask, here seems to be a "one month" return policy that some of the "Local" DME's have on Masks. You can keep switching out masks until you find the one that is right for you. But, you have to swap them out within the first thirty days of using a particular. The DME may offer to "sell" the original mask back to you or even swap it back. But, check with the DME and make sure that you have the right to more swaps before you agree to take the quattro back.

Vista is a go. Guess you need to watch your DME with 'both eyes' or fire them. Talk to the supervisor. Certainly everyone should have a spare mask.

Thank you! I just thought I would check this out BEFORE I had things hopelessly tangled up! That is a big relief.
I did call the DME tech and he said it was because it was during the first 30 days. He said that after that, my insurance covers a new mask every 3 months, and I can switch any time- but if it is during the first 30 days that I have any mask, they will swap THAT one out.Any others I have here are mine to keep-it is how they bill. I have figured out how to mod the headgear and it fit much better that way-will try it for a few nights with the twisty-tie fix before I cut and sew it! It is pretty comfortable, I have to say!
Thnks again, anyone who has or does answer.
