Reading and saving from EncoreViewer?

Post by mhorowit » Sat Apr 11, 2009 2:46 am

I can read my card and view the report.
I can return to EV and without inserting the card, read the last report dumped.
I can make annotations to that report, but they do not appear to be saved.
If I read the card the next day, the first report is not saved.
Nothing ever appears in the Table of Contents pane.

There are work arounds, but are my observations correct? - Mike

I'm not quite sure what you are asking. I downloaded PrimoPDF (free) - there are other free PDF programs as well.

When you have your report up, from reading your card, in the morning, click "Print". Choose "PrimoPDF" and you will get a virtual printer. Click "OK" and then click "Print PDF". A copy of that days report will be saved in "Documents". I made a new file folder called "Encore Viewer Reports" and put the day's report in there.

I do a weekly report the same way and then, every so often I save the weekly reports on a flash drive and delete some older reports from my Documents.

Right; I have Primo and have been making .pdf files.
My question was directed at my observations of how EncoreViewer was working on it's own and wondering if I was observing what others have seen - Mike

Well, Encore does apparently save something SOMEWHERE, because I was just able, by setting Encore to a single, earlier day, retrieve the chart for my first night, which I thought was gone since it wasn't, apparently, on the first card I used.

I just don't know what, or where... mebbe one of the computer gurus will know.

I do, FYI, use the utility on MyCPAP.org, to save a copy of the card's digital impression, as that can later, using the same utility, be put back on a card.

I have been trying without success to print from Encore viewer to a PDF file using Primo PDF. I can not find where it allows me to select a download folder only where it allows me to name the file. After I print the file, I cannot find the virtual PDF file no matter how hard I search. When I reprint using the same name, it states the file allready exists. I'm not a Computer Guru but am not exactly a Dummy either. I've found the Neo folder with the SC Decoded files. When I use my desktop search engines, it states the files I printed using the Primo PDF printer don't exist. I sure could use some help.

I'm not sure if I can explain this but I'll try!

I select "Primo PDF" from the drop down printer menu after copying the smart card and viewing the report. After it "prints", a Primo PDF" window will appear. Click "Create PDF".

This will produce a PDF version of your report called "ARN Document" (Ithink it is).

Minimize it.

Go to you Documents and it will also be there ( as well as minimized in the task bar). At that point, I close the minimized PDF version of the report.

The PDF version of your report should still be there in your Documents called ARN Document.

I suppose you could rename the report in your Documents before you close the minimized PDF report.

I rename it to the current date and then drag it to the folder I made entitled "Encore Viewer Reports". This way, you do not have reports for different days or a week with the same name and you won't get the "already exists" message.

I don't know how clear that is!

Let me see if I can help! First after you have downloaded Primo PDF go to the "Control Panel" and click on "Printers & Faxes" and make sure Primo PDF installed itself in your printer file.

Once you download your card click "View Report". Once it gives you the report click on "Print" in the upper left corner. Click on the little arrow where it lists the printer and select PrimoPDF as your printer. Click OK. When the "Primo PDF" box appears click on the box with three dots to the left of the "Save As" line. This should give you a "Save As" screen. At the top in the "Save In" line type the file you want it to save in. At the bottom it will say ARN Document in the "File Name" box. Remove this and type the name you want to save it as. Then click Save.

I made a file folder called Encore Viewer in the "My Documents" folder and I save it there but you can put it anywhere you want to as long as you can find it after it saves.

Hope this helps and clears it up.

Jerry
