I need encouragement....bad!
Hi,
I have been on cpap for several weeks. I started out on a pressure of 10, but still being tired, I went in for a titration study.
I needed to be bumped up to 15, because the first time they only had 8 minutes of data on the 10 pressure.
During the first study, I had 142 events per hour, and the doctor said I have severe apnea.
Anyway, when I saw the doctor after my titration study, he said I wasn't getting much benefit from the 10 pressure, and I needed to be on 15. He said it might take awhile to feel a lot better.
I do feel better in some ways. For instance, I used to sleep a lot during car trips. I just went on a long trip with my husband and stayed awake the whole time.
I just want to know if it sounds normal to wake up and feel bummed out, not really depressed but blah.
I also feel kinda disconnected and emotional. I also am yawning and still feel fatigued.
It gets better sometimes, but I hate it.
Also, I dream and wonder if that is depriving me of sleep.
I am so confused and keep thinking I will never feel better.
Please share any experiences with me.
Thanks much!

Hey, it's all pretty normal, but we need more info to help you out. Can you register as a forum member, and fill out your Equipment profile? We need to know what kind of equipment and mask you're using, your pressures, flex or no flex, etc. etc.
Also, if you have the ability to print and post your nightly data, that would help us help you alot.
Glad you found us!!!!
Barbara

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

What kind of machine do you have? Often, these doctors are very good at diagnosing your OSA but very stupid at treating the condition.
OSA patients really need a data capable machine to monitor how well the treatment is working (or not working) ... otherwise they go through a long tortuous guessing game with YOUR health. Even with a data capable machine, it can take a while to find the optimal pressure to treat your individual condition (yes, everyone's is just a tiny bit different) so without the data it just becomes a stupid guessing game.
The data will tell you if you are leaking the needed air pressure or if the pressure is too low or too high.

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Boy JNK, you're smarter than me! I would never have figured that out!

Sometimes I don't understand the song, but I still recognize the tune.

I agree with that. It can take a while for some. But it is worth it, because sleep is important and breathing is important and it is good for us to do all we can to let those happen.jazzmynn1 wrote: . . . He said it might take awhile to feel a lot better. . . .
That means you are already seeing good results. Try to think about that whenever you are feeling discouraged.jazzmynn1 wrote: . . . I do feel better in some ways. For instance, I used to sleep a lot during car trips. I just went on a long trip with my husband and stayed awake the whole time. . . .
Waking up feeling blue, disconnected, and emotional may be something you have to put up with for a while. If that doesn't get any better over time, it may be worth looking into that a little more. I yawned a lot for months after starting PAP therapy. The fatigue should not be ignored, but you may have to be patient about it too. There are practical things you can do about it. Finding ways to get more exercise now that you are feeling a little better can actually make you less tired, believe it or not.jazzmynn1 wrote: . . . Dreaming is a good sign. It can feel disturbing, but it is a good thing. Dreams, and even nightmares, are common right after doing something to fix your sleep. Your mind has some catching up to do.jazzmynn1 wrote: . . . Also, I dream and wonder if that is depriving me of sleep. . . .
We can all relate to that. As long as you keep doing reasonable things to find ways to feel better, think of it as a journey to wellness, not as being stuck with feeling sick. And if you understand that you are confused, that gives you a tool for rejecting negative thoughts as being a result of the confusion, and that can motivate you to look for practical things to do to keep positive.jazzmynn1 wrote: . . .I am so confused and keep thinking I will never feel better. . . .
Don't give up!

Re: I need encouragement....bad!
I'm now on CPAP for several weeks and am feeling much better, but I totally sympathize with the above statement. I felt like that for most of 2007 and 2008, and it got so bad that I thought I'd lose it.jazzmynn1 wrote:I just want to know if it sounds normal to wake up and feel bummed out, not really depressed but blah.
I also feel kinda disconnected and emotional.
People thought I suffered from clinical depression, but it was just plain mental/emotional fatigue. I was too tired to deal with the world. Too tired to hang out with friends and family. Too tired to take care of myself. I barely made it to work on a daily basis. Every thing in life seemed like a huge hassle/chore, and I didn't have the energy to deal with it.
And once I got my treatment settled and had a few weeks good rest...the vast majority of the above feelings have melted away.
So be encouraged! Get your treatment sorted out and give yourself some weeks to recover. Things will get better.
