I have been telling a friend how well I've been sleeping using cpap and how much better I feel. He indicated to me he suspects he has it too. He said he snores so loud it "rattles the walls in his home." He does not know if he stops breathing or not, but said he snores so loud the neighbors can hear it.
Does snoring that loud usually indicate apnea? Or is it just another clue and possible symptom? If someone is snoring that hard I would think there must be some form of obstruction to cause it to be that intense.
By the way, night #5, got 6.5 hours on the machine with 5 hours straight. I feel like rocket fuel today! I hope this is not beginner's luck!

Re: Snoring
My cardiologist said that in his experience, most people who snore have apnea. The tech at my sleep study said that a larger neck size is a good indication for OSD. My brother in law is a normal sized guy, would love to know the decibals he is at with his snoring. Has to be way up there, like a jet engine. We all used to go to cattle sales together, and I never slept one bit with my husband and his brother snoring. They used to get up and tell each other to turn over. Hubby has been on CPAP for 20 years, bet his bachelor brother should be.
Re: Snoring
My opinion is that snoring and daytime sleepiness/tiredness ought to be enough to get you a sleep study. I don't think that the docs all feel that way though.
