Data Recording in Ramp Setting

Post by DoriC » Tue Apr 07, 2009 6:10 pm

On the M Series APAP, is data NOT being recorded when in Ramp setting? I understand that on the Resmeds that is the case. Thanks, Dori

Hello, it sure does on mine. It even shows as it ramps up in the graph.

Yes ,what Don said. I don't use ramp any more but seem to remember it does. No idea why a Resmed would NOT. If you have events during ramp - wouldn't you want to know?

Thank you for clearing this up. I didn't like the thought of the M Series "ignoring" ramp data. Do you happen to know if the same is true for the older Respironic "Tank type". Specifically, does it record date to the Smart card during initial and subsequent ramp periods during an session?

BTW, I stopped using ramp within a week of starting BiPAP. But, might hit it by accident-one never knows (Have mine set to EPAP and timer set for 5 minutes)

Thanks!

Now that you mention it I do remember when my husband was using the ramp it did show on the graph. The reason I was asking is that all his twisting, turning and saying his prayers while he's first settling down shows up as extra snores and leaks, and I heard that on Resmeds the data doesn't record in ramp setting so I thought it might be the same with Respironics and was going to turn his ramp on to his actual pressure for 20mins. Oh well.

On the old Legacy Autos, the "Ramp time" is actually the "Split Night setting".......and for normal operation should be turned off (Time set to 0.00). The Ramp settings function normally in CPAP or CFLE mode.

Even if it does record it, how could it be useful, as the pressure isn't at your treatment pressure, so treatment is FUBARed. Also unless you are sleeping, not laying there under ramp conditions, any data would be useless. Jim
