Light at the end of the tunnel?

I called the sleep center this morning, where I did my study. They had told me before that I would have to go back for a full night of titration, but this morning the sleep tech that did my study told me that their doc had reviewed my study and made a reccomendation, which he faxed to my PCP.
His reccomendation was that I did not need to come back for another test and he reccomended a Bi-pap set at 21/17. That sure seems high, but they said I did well at those pressures. The VA uses Respironics so I guess that is what I will be getting, finally.
I just want to say thank you for everyone who has helped me during this journey, from offering advice and wisdom to offering their support, thanks.
Hopefully within the next week or so I will have my new machine. I will complete my profile with that information when that time comes and then I can bug all of you with using it.

That is great to be prescribed a bi-pap, right from the beginning. Did you remember to ask for a copy of your sleep study?

Oh yeah, I meant to post that. When I called them this morning I asked for a copy. So I should have that soon.

get a copy of your prescription too, just in case your outta town or something and need to pick something up.
Some DME's want a prescription even for a mask part or hose, some dont.
I carry my sleep study and my prescription with my equipment.

Bearcat... don't settle for a Bipap Plus, it's not fully data capable.

Oh yeah, good point. NONE of the Respironics "Plus" models are fully data capable. Don't let them lie to you. All you can get is compliance hours.

You need one with "Pro" in the name, or "Auto". Even BiPaps can be "autos".

Pluses make good backups, but not primary machines. You can get machines for FAR LESS on https://www.cpap.com - but only if you can afford the out of pocket expense, or can get your insurance to reimburse you. I only get 70% reimbursement, but it's worth it to me, and I can get the other 30% reimbursed through my FSA Healthcare account.

I was looking at the Respironics web-site and the "Plus" model has a titration range of 4-20 cmH2o but the Docs reccomendation was a setting of 21/17 so I dont see how they could give me a Plus model. What do you guys think?

Well, sounds like you're gonna get a Pro or Auto, then. But you never know. Just LOOK AT IT, and be SURE it doesn't say "PLUS" anywhere.
