Private Message Help

I have received some private messges and tried to reply, but it said I need Windows Live to send an email so I downloaded it and I still can't get an email to send. What's up? My email works when I use my hotmail normally.

I'm not sure I know what you are asking but you don't need email to reply to a private message.

You read it and click "Send Reply"(at the top). You type your reply and "Preview" if you wish and then click "Sumbit" and it goes into your sent box in the private message section of the forum. It stays there until the person gets it and reads it. They get an email message that they have a PM and come to the forum and open it in their "User Control Panel". Then it is in your sent box.

I hope I got those steps right! Someone else may explain it better than I did!

WHen I hit send or submit, whichever it is, a windows tells me can't send it without having Windows Live, which I do.

Never happened to me.

What do you mean by "still can't get an email to send"?

The opened PM has an orange "SENDREPLY" button on the top right, you click on that if you want to reply to the PM.
You write your reply
Then you click on the SUBMIT button beneath the reply frame.
That's all.

Email does not come into this at all.

Another possibility.. I find that when I use a secure tunnel to an anonymous proxy ( putty), cpaptalk.com just does not remember who I am .

Now you might think that is the whole point of an anonymous proxy, but not so. Bank and mail websites have no problem recording who I am for transactions, it's just cpaptalk.com that has problems.

so.. check your proxies , if any

Izzyb, in order to read a Private Message (PM), you need to log on to this website, and then click on the "User Control Panel" link in the upper left hand corner.

Just clicking on the link in the email that is sent to your off-forum email address sometimes doesn't work.

You can also copy and paste that link into a new web browser screen. That often works for me.
