Hi, me with yet another concern. I am adapting to the machine pretty well. But, I still awaken frequently. Previously, I was awake about every 60 to 90 minutes. Now I may get 120 ,maybe 150 -but never long enough for a true "session" as described in my machine's manual. What happens if I do not get any longer sleep times for a long while? Will I never get any data at all? or is there a way to cirumvent that once I have my new machine? I try to stay asleep; but can only lie there awake for so long before I must get up for the bathroom or just to walk around for a minute- usually arthritis or fibromyalgia pain- and then back again in a few minutes. Thanks for any advice.

I thought short breaks did not interfere with "sessions" or in reporting data. Someone with more specifics on this than I will hopefully jump in on that. I think I saw in another thread you've just got a data capable machine - congratulations!
About the frequent awakenings, sometimes it just takes a while for the brain to stop doing what is habit. Other times there can be other contributing factors. Are you on any meds that can disturb sleep architecture? Having data will at least help you see if the wakings are likely event related or if you're being disturbed by large leaks. Was there any mention of limb movements in your studies? They can be a real sleep wrecker too.

I have the A/flex machine and if I get up for a bathroom visit it just reports a little empty spot on the graphs, but goes right back to recording as soon as I hook up again. It will also record naps, even if they are under 2 hrs. I would think your machine would do the same... Anyway as time goes on you should be able to get more sleep in a single stretch. Try not to worry and become anxious over this as it will make it that much worse on yourself. Keep at it !!

I'm just starting my 4th month and am finally sleeping 5 hrs at a time many nights. I used to wake up every 1 - 2 hrs, so 5 feels great! But, I was well into the 3rd month before I noticed a difference.
Had a 'heavy head' for a long, long time - that feeling has finally gone away!

Don't worry Trinity101, the sleep sessions will get longer and longer. I started therapy on Feb. 11, 2009, so I haven't been on therapy long. I am now sleeping through most of the night. My brain still occasionally wants me to wake up after 4-5 hours, probably at the end of a sleep cycle, but I fall right back asleep. Most nights, I sleep straight through.
