I've recently been prescribed Edronax (Reboxetine) which is a NorAdrenaline Reuptake Inhibitor (NARI) for ongoing depression, and it had an serious affect on my sleep - in short I battle to get to sleep now. While I'm hoping that the side effect wears off after a few weeks, I have noticed that my AHI has come way down. I've never managed to get it reliably below 5 and have only managed to get it to hover around the 10 level. Since I've been on the Edronax, I've got below 5 just about every night, but at the same time have been getting progressively more tired.
My suspicion is that the reason for my lower AHI is that I'm not getting in REM sleep, as I assume that is where I'm most likely to have apnea events.
I wonder if anyone has any input? Possibly not on the actual drug (I understand it hasn't been released in the US), but on why my AHI should go down even though I'm tossing and turning all night.
Thanks,
Colin
NorAdrenaline Reuptake Inhibitors (NARIs) and lower AHI?
Re: NorAdrenaline Reuptake Inhibitors (NARIs) and lower AHI?
How long is it taking you to get to sleep? Do you have the software to know when your events are happening? It may be that during that time you WERE sleeping, but now are not, the events during that time no longer happen....but the events during the time you are sleeping still are. However, since the AHI is calculated over the entire "therapy time" whether you are asleep or not, not having events while wearing the machine and still awake would lower the AHI overall....but the actual events during sleep would be the same.I've recently been prescribed Edronax (Reboxetine) which is a NorAdrenaline Reuptake Inhibitor (NARI) for ongoing depression, and it had an serious affect on my sleep - in short I battle to get to sleep now.
