High AI with Swift LT

Hello everyone,

There have been an overwhelming number of posts from people who have had great experiences with the Swift LT. But, has anyone else found that it raises their AIs?

I've been using the Activa for the last year with great results, usually getting an AI of around 0.6 (HI around 3). Because of the great reviews of the Swift LT, I recently tried it for about 6 weeks. However, with the Swift, I almost always get AIs over 1.0 (HI around 4). The numbers aren't a whole lot different, but I can feel myself getting noticeably more tired the more I use it. Which is a shame, because I really like the nasal pillows interface. It's a lot more confortable than the nasal mask.

Is the Swift just not the right mask for me? I don't think the problem is due to the size of the pillows. While the medium leaked like crazy, I switched to the small and consistently get 0 leaks. Although it was initially hard to exhale with the small, I trimmed the pillows as suggested on this board, which made it easier to breathe, but did not help lower the AI. I'm out of ideas on what to try now.

I understand that some masks are not just right for people, if they are uncomfortable or have problems with mouth breathing. However, I really like the Swift, except for the fact that the AIs are around twice what I get with the Activa, and I feel noticeably more tired after using it for a few days.

Has anyone else had a similar situation? Is it a known fact that different masks result in different AHIs? Are there other nasal pillows that might work better?

Yep, I have noticed it. My AHI with the Swift LT for Her is generally between 3 and 4.5, where with the micro I was running between 1 and 2.5...Don't know why it's elevated with the Swift, my leak line is flat as a pancake.
