CPAP Machines: Data Display

Post by Longhorn » Thu Apr 02, 2009 1:08 pm

Friends,

First of all, thank you to all who contribute to this community, it has helped me tremendously.

I am a new CPAP user and have been renting a Resmed Escape for a few months to varying degrees of success. My frustration primarily lies in my mask, the Resmed Liberty, because it breaks easily (I'm on my third) and seems prone to significant leakage.

To that end, I am interested in trying a new CPAP machine that will record and display my previous nights sleep statistics each morning so I know exactly what is going on with my very valuable rest time. Therefore, I am interested in machines that provide displayed data on the machine itself, without additional downloading to a computer or going to the doctor's office. The escape does not provide that type of information. My good friend uses a Sandman Info and he gets a readout, but I am interested in others as well so I can compare the information displayed.

I know this inquiry is rudimentary, and I apologize if it has been rehashed, but I get somewhat confused when I read the specifications for the various machines, most say that data is available but not exactly how one receives the information. I just want to wake up in the morning, push a few buttons on my machine and get the most information possible.

Thanks very much for the help.

Scott.

I use a ResMed Elite S8II and it does provide the leak. AI, AHI, along with Compliance data if it is turned on to track, My DME did not turn on the recording of the data other than Compliance but it is not too hard to find out how to do that on this web site. Good Luck

The ResMed S8 Elite, and the ResMed S8 Elite II that Dpursi mentioned, both display AHI, AI, HI, Leak info in the display window with no software needed to see those things. The data can be viewed for just the previous session or as weekly/monthly averages.

If I were not going to use software at all, but wanted to monitor my treatment via the machine data displayed in the LCD, and was going to get a straight CPAP machine, the S8 Elite II would be my choice.
