You should get warned about Nasal Pillows

Post by N6CRV » Thu Apr 02, 2009 10:44 am

Hello, I had this great thought about using a Nasal Pillow mask. Well what I have found out is you have trouble talking with one. It just keeps blowing air out your mouth as you try to talk. But the worst part is trying to drink. Last night I wanted a drink of water. So I did think that I better turn the machine off. That was fine till as I was drinking and the auto start came on! I had water shooting all over the place. felt kind of like a fountain. Then to make matters worse all my Wife did was laugh at me and I had to change the sheets. Guess we all have to learn the hard way

Oh dear, I've done that!!!!

I now have a supply of bendy straws, and keep one in the water glass next to the bed.

Talking is bizarre. If I do it too much, I end up swallowing air.

Good luck!!!

Thanks- it was just a matter of time before I would have discovered that all by myself the hard way.

Yeah, most machines will turn themselves on if you breath through a mask a few times with the machine off. No one tells you that, though!

Hi, it would not of been so bad but my Wife did not feel sorry for me at all. She could of said would I like her to change the sheets but no. She just sat there and had a good old time picking on me. If it was her I would of felt so sorry that it happened NOT!

If I can quit laughing long enough I'll finish this post. If I had done that last night, by now all of the neighbors all of the people my wife works with and half of the people I work with would know. I never considered what the outcome of trying to take a drink while under pressure would be. Thanks for the warning. It just might keep me from being the laughing stock of the neighborhood and two work environments. I have thought of keeping a sports bottle with a snap on lid and a flexable plastic straw with a cap on it to prevent spills next to the bed, but hadn't thought of what might happen if I actually took a drink.
