Let me clarify a couple of points:
We do not currently offer exhalation relief. We will be investigating options for this patented technology in the future.
The DeVilbiss AutoAdjust algorithm detects and responds to snore, apnea and hypopnea with adjustable apnea and hypopnea %.

Have any of you who have used the IntelliPAP used the SmartCode feature? This allows you to obtain an encrypted code from your device that works much like a barcode in how it codes data. Once you have the code, you can log onto http://www.IntelliPAP.com, enter the code and a report will be generated.

The IntelliPAP features a large, slip resistent pad on the bottom of the unit to prevent movement and vibration at night. MrSandman mentioned adding feet - do you feel that the slip pad is not adequate?

Again, I and the engineering team will continue to monitor these and other boards to obtain as much feedback as possible. Critical feedback is always appreciated.

As far as the backlit issue, to ensure we satisfy everyone's desire, we will pursue the solution of allowing you to select if the backlight goes off.

I can confirm that DeVilbiss Marketing, Kristin Mastin, is legitimate and is working with me to determine why I had a negative experience with the Intellipap! These folks are seriously progressive!

I'm wondering why anyone would make a modern day blower without this, and there was no comment from the "marketing" guy about exhale relief. It's almost like there are patents in force so the machine has relief but isn't advertising/publishing it... crazy, I know...

I was not chosen for the challenge. I do want to thank DeVilbiss for donating the units for the challenge and for reading this forum and listening to us, the end users of their product. This a huge step forward, imo, for us. Plus a thanks has to go out to CPAP.com for their service, this forum, and the challenges that they prvoide for us. And no I do not work for either company.

I was glad to read the results of the test. I had already ordered the IntelliPap APAP and humidfier without the Smartlink bundle before the results were finished. I have the software with my M-Series APAP and after using it briefly I quit using it. I think the software can be useful for some people but I have not taken the time to use it. I wanted a CPAP/APAP that can be used on 12 volts easily and was a good travel unit. I think the IntelliPap will do this for me. At least I hope it will.

I like the challenges on masks and other CPAP items. I think it allows the users to test products and compare them with what they already have. This is not a scientific test. I don't just go on the results of the test but I read what they said about both products and decide what I think will work best for me. There is no universally good mask or CPAP. Some work better than others for each individual and by reading the reviews I think we can help make good decisions on what we buy.

These are just my opinions. I'm not an expert, just a CPAP user for over 10 years. My original CPAP in 1997 was a HUGE heavy machine and I traveled with it but it was not easy. Now we have so many more choices, it sure is a much better time for CPAP users and the future should get better, imo.

Kudos to Kristin Mastin and her team at DeVilbiss, then.

At this point I would like to add that my Sears Craftsman air compressor was semi-secretly made by DeVilbiss and I am happy with it. Things are starting to fall into place nicely around here...

O.K. Kristin - MAJOR KUDO'S to Devilbiss. It is one thing to be told you are listening but something else to actually hear from you. Do a search for Intellipap and you will find a list where I compare it to the Sandman Auto and M-series Auto and S8 II Auto set. I find the 1,7,30 day display onscreen needs to be divided out between apnea and hypopnea to be more useful. If I remember right without buying the smartlink module you get nothing onscreen. The reports need work as far as making them more like the Sandman auto or M-series reports.

The foam on the bottom tends to pick up lint,hairs or whatever in the glue that holds it on and it can peel off if the machine is slid around.

Just based on the fact that you are here and listening I may have to give the Intellipap Auto another try but I will wait for it to be refined.

Relief on exhalation is a patented technology which makes it difficult to add this feature to devices. We will be investigating opportunities surrounding this feature in the future. We understand that this is a beneficial feature that may ultimately provide additional comfort to the user and therefore potentially more beneficial and adherence to therapy.
