18 Missing days on Encore Pro!

Post by jsmythe » Tue Dec 30, 2008 5:38 pm

I have not been downloading as regular as I used to. Usually once every two or three weeks. My AHI has been staying at or around 0.1 , and with that, I just havent downloaded.
The last time was Dec.8, and today when I put my card in to download, I only got the last three days on it!! The previous 18 days were missing!!
The usuall 2 day thing was a normal thing. Not 18. Has anyone else has this experience or have an idea as to why so many missing days?

Hello Joyce!

The Respironics Smartcard only holds 7 days worth of data so if you download less frequently than once per week you most definitely will use data (in addition to the M-series bug).

Now that we're pretty stable, I don't download our data weekly, either -- usually once a month. But our Smartcards hold more than 7 days of data... Not sure what the difference is. I'll download our data tonight and see what happens.

Downloading every two or three weeks is not out of the ordinary for me, I have always received my data for the full amount of time, each time. Until now...I thought at first, about the 7 day thing, but then realized that I had not had this problem before now with it. Have no idea what is the problem...

There have been numerous threads about the Respironics Smartcard capacity so I won't go into that again. I used the Respironics M-Series Auto with A-flex for about a year and just recently switched to the Sandman --- which can hold *much* more data.

There are also threads discussing the maximum number of days people have gotten before they need to erase their cards, some up to a year. So there are some people who have problems and some people who don't. Joyce seems to have been in the first category and now in the second....

It's not possible to have a year's worth of detail data on a Respironics Smartcard (it can hold much more data for compliance). If you go over somewhere around 7 days, the detail data will "wraparound". I'm sure it could hold a year's worth if you only used the machine for 6-10 days out of the year. The amount of detail data produced for a single night is positively *huge*! I've exported one night to Excel several times and it's thousands of lines.

I am with Joyce on this one. Mine holds more data than 7 days. I don't download every week -- about every 3 or 4 weeks. I can download the data and have info for more than 7 days of data -- and NOT just compliance data but leak rates, apneas, etc.

The data is not as DETAILED daily data but is there as a cumulative data details with approximtely a week of DETAILED DAILY data. You can stll check on leak rates, apneas, etc. or the entire time. The cards do hold MORE than 7 days of data (not just compliance) -- at least on the card I have.

Okay I have my last report pulled up. It is from 11/29/08 to 12/19/08 and contains the data from that time period and is 10 pages long.

Try cleaning the gold contacts on the card by lightly rubbing with a clean pencil eraser. Let us know how you make out.

Carol - When my reports are only 10 pages - I'm definitely missing some daily detailed data.

sleepycarol,

You are absolutely right that the reports contain a range of data as you noted. However, if you download less often than roughly every 7 days, there should be some data missing within that range. As I recall the data, 10 pages for the date range of 11/29/08 to 12/19/08 should give you over 20 pages in the report (1 page per day plus several summary pages). But you note that you have 10 pages - which would be 7 days + 3 summary pages.

The details are in the cumulative part as I pointed out and not as detailed data. The detailed data -- one page for each day -- is only 7 pages long. In the cumulative data the "missing" days are there and do provide some information -- just not as detailed.

Hi all,

Here's some detail I found in the specifications for the Remstar at the following link:

viewArticle/Respironics-Remstar-Auto-Pr ... rview.html

The following two statements are from this article:

"Smart Card Records 9 Months usage, Date/Time, Duration at pressure, snoring and apneic events information."
"Data Storage Capacity (minimum) 6 months @ 3 usage sessions/day; 7-9 days in depth data analysis"

So I think we're all right depending on what definition we're interested in --- and which Joyce was asking about. It's intereswting to see exactly what data is included in the "short" definition.

If what Joyce is looking for is the short version, then I agree with GumbyCT about cleaning the contacts. I've heard that alcohol is better than an eraser although I'll admit to having used the eraser trick. Also, Smartcards have a limited lifespan so it could be time to get a new one (I'm on my second one).

Mindy

Thanks everyone for your replies and help. I think Mindy is right, I may need a new card. I just downloaded last nights data, guess what? Nothing there! The previous nights showed up, but it only showed 1 hour and a half sleep time, not the six or seven that it should have been. I have been using this card for 15 months, so I guess it is time to put the new one in. Oh well.

Thanks Deerslayer! After I quit fiddling with my pressure and machine, and left it at 12/17, my events went down. I still have bad nights once in a while. But the good ones out weigh the bad ones. It helps knowing that someone else has had multiple gaps in their daily reports besides me.

Thanks Gumby, that makes me feel good.... that you missed me; sorry that I have been away for so long. I have had problems, kinda sorta, that just led me away for awhile.

Thanks Carol, when you got your details for the missing days, was the Compliance data correct? Some of mine is, some is screwed up and wrong.

I have been periodically erasing my card every 3 months or so, and cleaning the gold contact about once a month. I wonder how many people are using a card that is older than a year or more?
