I was looking forward to receiving my mask because after using the nasal mask for so long and dealing with leaks with high (20) pressure, I was assured this would work better. Used a medium wide for nasal mask, so got a medium full face. After hour or so, the leaking started. Was not just the usual sounds, but this was more HORN like coming out of the side. I tried to adjust the thing all night with the straps and the forehead knob while my bipap was running. Did not work but for a split second each time. It was a horrible night. Any thoughts please?????
I was fitted properly (?) by the therapist.......so what is going on?
HELP PLEASE with my new Quattro Full Face Mask
There's an inherent problem with the Quattro masks......they leak out of the elbow in the front of the mask and where that elbow connects to the hose connector. It makes it feel like it's leaking EVERYWHERE.
You need to get some Teflon (plumbers) tape and pull the elbow apart at both ends and make about 3 - 4 wraps around each end.....and then shove them back together.
Also, don't wear that mask too tight. I make sure the forehead support piece is in it's most upright position and make the top straps loose......any tension is on the bottom straps.

You also may be able to break it in, so to speak, by sticking with it for a week. Make sure the cushion is clean by bedtime every night.

No, you were not fitted properly by the therapist.gw wrote:Used a medium wide for nasal mask, so got a medium full face. After hour or so, the leaking started. Was not just the usual sounds, but this was more HORN like coming out of the side. ?

Quattros run one size too large, on a good day.
Always take the next smaller size in a Quattro than you used in a nasal mask or any other FF mask. And when your RT says you need a medium, be sure you leave with a small.
My RT set me up with a medium Quattro on what I would consider a normal male face. I used it for 4 months and it really sucked. Leaked too! The Small Quattro works 1000 times better. Unless your face is the size of the front end of a Freightliner, you'll be happier with a small.
My next mask will be an Extra Small Quattro.

Re: uattrouttro
I agree that the Quattro is slightly bigger than most masks but it wasn't the case for me that I had to go down a size. I tried the small and the bottom of the mask couldn't clear my mouth.

Re: uattrouttro
That's because you bought into the ResMed party line that the upper cushion has to fit directly at eyepoint on the bridge of your nose. If you fit the Quatrro in the v of your chin first, then let the upper cushion fall ever so slightly below eyepoint, you will find that the cushion actually floats to give proper seal at the bridge of your nose and your chin. And, guess what? No more air-leaks blowing into your eyes and drying them out!chipbutty wrote: I tried the small and the bottom of the mask couldn't clear my mouth.
The generous proportions of the Quattro and the float built into the cushion should allow most people to comfortably goto the next smaller size.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...
Re: uattrouttro
I had the small on loan for a month and experimented with it any way possible. I'd have tried it upside down if I thought it'd work. Fitting it as you suggested would work for many I think but it couldn't cope with my jaw drop and would leak. Also it was much too narrow around my face.
