Get a Mac!

LOL, you mean a Microsoft Vista machine won't allow its own Microsoft SQL database client to connect?

And they want to take over Yahoo! and ruin that company so Icahn can become richer.

If there is a SQL Server agent on your task bar, try right-clicking on it and select "Start"
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

I'm running on Vista and have since about September. The first copy of 1.8.49 I purchased from a vendor down under wouldn't load with a similar message. Got another copy and it loaded fine. So, unfortunately I still don't know what did it....

Hi Gumby!

I have had it installed on my desktop pc which is running windows xp for 8 months now and never had a problem...

However, I have never ran it on my laptop that has windows vista but the cd (encore pro I purchased says it's vista compapable

The error message i'm getting when trying to download the encore cd is: THE SQL EXPRESS INSTALLER ENCOUNTERED AN ERROR! CONTACT CUSTOMER SUPPORT , and that is a joke, that's not allowed for patients, just doctors and sleep centers so... any ideas??

Thanks,

SNM

So if I understand this correctly you are trying to install Encore Pro 1.8i release 2 onto a laptop running Vista Home Edition, Correct so far?

The error message you are getting is - "THE SQL EXPRESS INSTALLER ENCOUNTERED AN ERROR! CONTACT CUSTOMER SUPPORT".

Have you ever tried to install any other Encore versions on this laptop?

Do you have any other database software installed or software that would have installed or use SQL server?

First make sure you are logged into the computer as administrator.
Next do not let the cd auto run.
Browse to the cd drive and find the .exe file that installs the program(setup.exe, install.exe, ect)
single right click and run as administrator.

I have to do this alot at work setting up new vista systems.

I do not personally have Vista but have installed Encore Pro 1.8.49 on my son's Vista laptop for occasional use.

The install was successful but have problems finding the card reader. Mindy's post may have the solution for that - I haven't tried it.

I am not certain what the difference is between Encore Pro 1.8i release 2 and 1.8.49 but are you sure it IS Vista compatible?

You could wait for Den to show up or read some on this link -
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/default.mspx
Or just install XP.

Good Luck,
GumbyCT
