Pantyliner Thins solve Comfort Curve Problem

Post by CareS » Sun Jun 05, 2005 3:23 pm

I found my perfect solution to the annoying cheek cushions on the comfort curve mask. While looking to find something to replace those plastic pads I came across a box of pantyliners in my bathroom closet and decided to cut one in half, tape still on the back and replace the CC cheek pads with it. Pantyliners come in different thicknesses for obvious reasons. Results are the mask was 75% more comfortable, sealed better, the disposable pads absorb sweat so I am looking forward to sleeping with my "tweaked" comfort curve mask. The improvement was so marked that it hardly felt like I was wearing a mask. Of course nighttime will tell. Anyway, I had to pass on this information and you will probably get a chuckle out of it.. p.s. I wonder what Repironics will think of us using sanitary napkins to make our comfort curve masks more user friendly. Comments welcome!

Wow! That is really creative!

My hat is off to you for a simple solution that works!

I haven't tried that interface because I use the PB420e with the sensor line -- I haven't felt like tackling another problem! I am still working on a new headgear for the deconstructed Aura, although the long weekend here in the states derailed that project for a while!

Good job!

Sleep well,

Actually, they should include more women on their design teams. We could teach them a thing or two!!

Sheesh. I had enough trouble buying KY for my nasal pillows. I guess I won't be buying a ComfortCurve any time soon!

Redfaced in Seattle.

I can always count on the board for a good laugh and a good use for those critters in the closet. I'm lovin' it.

I about spewed pepsi all over the keyboard when I saw the topic subject!

First thing that popped into my mind before I even got into reading it was: "Thank heaven! This will make pantyhose on the head look tame!!"

This is soooo funny. But, I tell ya, CareS...I do admire that kind of creative thinking. My hat's off to you (or my...whatever I happen to be wearing on my head at the time...lol).

WTG, girl!!

Edited to belatedly give CareS her well deserved trophy!!

WOW!.

When the mask makers pick that one up, they'll start producing disposable interface parts which cost a fortune - but are easier for men to buy/use.
Great laugh to start my morning!
Long live creativity.

P.S. UKnowWhatInSeattle - you could make believe you're shopping for your wife - remember all those things we used to be as kids?

panyliner thins!

Post by CareS » Mon Jun 06, 2005 6:26 am

I know it is funny, but the funny part is that it does work. I folded the pad, sticky sides together and trimmed it into an oval shape somewhat larger than the annoying cheek pads. This made a firmer pad which could be used on both sides and last for a few days. As was mentioned under this topic, the manufacturers could pick up on this, make disposable pads that would stick to a redesigned interface and charge a small fortune for them. Another idea I had was that since Respironics is not replying to complaints made by our users, what if all of us sent them the same letter of complaint each additionally adding their own comments. Wouldn't that make much more of an impact than one letter from one person. Perhaps this would work with the Resmed full face if we all suggested (within the same timeframe) that they work on redesigning it along the lines of the Aptiva

I'm laughing so hard it hurts. And I'm wondering if I have any pantiliners left in the closet!

Post some PICS of the device with the pad..Not to be funny, I just would like to see how big the pads get. The idea of the interface is the small foot print over the face.

So if I get a CC, and decide to modify it for comfort......

How exactly do I explain to my girlfriend that her brand just isn't as comfortable for ME?
