waiting my results

Post by Lynnm77 » Sat Nov 13, 2004 4:31 pm

Hi, I'm Lynn. I had my sleep study last Sunday night. I had one about 15 years ago for RLS. This one for sleep apnea. I know I stay up too long at night, sometimes till dawn. It's to get time alone with nobody talking to me. I have lately, the last several months, fallen asleep walking, talking, driving. I've fallen asleep in the middle of saying a word. They howled at that. I've found the milk on the counter and when I went to put it away, not remembering putting it there, found my purse on the fridge shelf where the milk should have been. I've fallen backwards into the bathtub, waking up as I'm going down. Same thing in front of the desk, third time lucky enough there was a couch behind me. I wake up at work. I've walked into walls and doors. I'm assuming he's going to say CPAP. Am I wrong?

For Lynn

Hiya Lynne,

Wow, your story is very interesting. I caught myself falling asleep while teaching a class and in mid sentence.

Your doctor may indeed say cpap, or they may wish to do a MSLT (Multi Sleep Latency Test) on you. This would rule out Narcolepsy.

While working as a sleep tech, I would do the overnight study for sleep apnea and the daytime tech would come in and give the MSLT. It ends up being a long double test for the patient, but effective in ruling out many issues.

Have you tried cpap before? If so, what was your impression.

Oh, and by the way.. Welcome to cpaptalk.com!!!

Regards,

Ted

LOL. I've seen the name Titrator in posts and thought it was the name of a test, LOL. Nice to know it's a person. Thanks so much for your reply. No, I've never used the CPAP before, I have a friend who used one. We both had gastric bypass surgery 3 years ago and she had used one before that but doesn't have to use it anymore. I've just heard her talk about it. I've heard some people talk like this is a postitive thing, but I remember she hated having to wear it. I will just be glad to get things straightened out. I'm scared driving. I'm scared I am going to hurt myself, or worse yet, someone else. Lynn
