My first night with ChinUp strips

Well, I bought the ChinUps and used them last night for the first time. I love them!! I really cant use a chin strap, so I thought I would try these. They are great I used the Boomerang, which has a lighter adhesive to it. Usually, I am allergic to the adhesives, but not with this particular one. It worked like it is supposed to and I did not wake up with a dry mouth even once. I have pretty much trained myself to nose breathe. But then there are times that I don't. I couldn't even feel it on my face. Love them and will probably continue to use them.

Just received mine a few days ago--same here. This is an excellent alternative to taping, I think.

You are absolutely right RipVW, excellent! I tried taping one time, with my COPD, I cough a lot. Wow! Try coughing with tape on your mouth! or sneeze! I really love this product.

I got the variety pack and used it one night. I tried the horseshoe shape but had trouble applying it so I tried the boomerang. It worked extremely well to keep my mouth shut. I used it with a mouthband (see link below my signature for a graphic of the mouthband with a chinstrap) to keep my cheeks from puffing out, but no chinstrap. This was much more comfortable than a chinstrap for me. (I look funny, but then I look funny in the chinstrap, too.)

I used them because I had gotten a flu or cold and had a cough. This setup allowed me to cough, but looking at my chart, this was on par with the chinstrap/mouthband leakwise. (Both are very good methods for controlling mouth leaking for me).

However, I don't plan to continue because I have rosacea (a skin condition). The adhesive gave me a bad rosacea flareup. I'm sure I couldn't use them every night because of the rosacea. I have a few left from the pack and do plan to use them when I'm sick and don't want to use a chinstrap with the mouthband.

It bothered my skin even though I did not wash before applying. This was per instructions, to leave face oils on to make it less irritating to the skin. I can't use any facial oils or creams due to the rosacea, so that's out.

Bottom line, more minimalist than a chinstrap. Somewhat less funny-looking than a chinstrap (good for travel when you may be with other folks). Effective at controlling mouth leaks. But if you have rosacea order the small sample pack and try them before you make a major investment.
