THIS Should Be A Sticky !!!

Post by Slinky » Fri Nov 02, 2007 4:07 pm

I"m sure it was Ozij who first posted this URL. It really does need to be a sticky.

You "might" have to access it via this URL

http://www.resmed.com/en-us/clinicians/ ... clinicians

Or maybe you can access it directly via this URL

http://www.resmed.com/en-us/clinicians/ ... 40x380.swf

I don't know how to make them a tinyurl.

It is an online "video" explanation of sleep disordered breathing and the best I've ever been able to find.

There is a verbal explanation of the entire OSA cycle accompanied by graphs in "real time" including the effect on blood pressure and oxygenation. You really need to watch it 3-4 times to catch everything. You WILL understand the mechanics of OSA/SDB once you've watched this.

If new to EncoreViewer or EncorPro/My Encore graphs and charts you WILL understand them after watching this online video.

Best I've seen, too!

Post by RipVW » Fri Nov 02, 2007 4:57 pm

I agree, Slinky! I found this on the forum, then couldn't find it again to thank the poster (thought it was Rested Gal).

Best, clearest explanation of SDB I've seen--have watched it several times, and got my wife and son to watch it as well.

Don't we all think it's Rested Gal.

See, RG, once again this proves my point:

You've been so much help to so many of us, that we just assume the post is yours. You are loved by your many friends here on CPAP.com:

Ozij originally posted it under the Diagnosis thread by sbeeland711. Not the Diagnosis UPDATE, but under the original Diagnosis thread.

If you all agree that it should be a sticky I wish someone would make it one!! I don't know how.

That's an excellent idea, Slinky. I thought that this would be just the thing to explain SDB to others and in fact have emailed that link to someone new already. It was very helpful to this new person who's not on this forum. I don't think it can be a sticky, but maybe a FAQ.

I went ahead and made a FAQ category for "explaining sleep disordered breathing" and put this as the first link in that category, so we can at least find it once it gets buried. I'm sure I'll be using it in the future.

I'm posting the clickable link you posted above here so we can have it in the FAQ

"Understanding Sleep Disordered Breathing"

It was originally in this thread on diagnosis, a very interesting thread in itself:
viewtopic/t25606/Diagnosis.html

And finally, thanks to ThiMarine's post, here's the link to the description of how Auto titrating machines are used in treating sleep apnea (ResMed's machine)

"AutoPAP for Sleep Disordered Breathing"

The list is long: memberlist.php

Sort it by posts in descending order, and you can see our top posters for yourself.

There are many of my favorite posters not yet in the top 10, but they are in the top 50 or top 100.

Hey, maybe we could call them the Fortune 100.

What a great video!!!!
Thanks Ozij and Slinky for sharing and re-posting!!!!
Very well done by Resmed!!! And I do like the correlating graphs and traces.

I made sure I bookmarked it in a prominent spot so I can review it on occasion and pass it on to those in need!!!! (wife - the nurse in denial!!!)

cheers

you can access this website by going to resmed.com and clicking on the clinicians menu. There are two videos to watch. One is about auto cpap. Both are very good. Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention.

To give credit where its due - the first to post it was a member called "meister".

I've submitted to Our Collective Wisdom - I hope they'll accept it.

cpap.com has it in its videos section.

Thanks, RosemaryB. And, of course, thanks again to Ozij!! And to "Meister" who Ozij says originally posted it. As far as I'm concerned the more exposure this video gets the better! At least until someone can come up w/a better one.

That's a funny pic, John.

I ain't "queen" of nuttin. Just one of many frogs in a tiny little pond.

All that my number of posts reflects is:

1. I'm OLD!
2. semi-retired with plenty of time.
3. turn a computer on every day.
4. still have an amateur fascination with everything about "sleep."

And, #5 "Way too modest!" Only been on the forum for awhile, and already figured out who our "Queen" is!

Thanks for all you do, your majesty!
