Thursday night was my 2nd night at the sleep center. It was the night we tried the CPAP. I fell asleep surprisingly well wearing it, however I did wake up in the middle of the night in a state of panic, unable to breath. After a couple of minutes break from it, I was able to replace it and fall back to sleep. Is this normal? I was surprise how much better I felt in the morning!
Unfortunately, the technician was not very informative. I was only told that the results of the study would be sent to the referring physician, which, in this case, is my regular doctor. I'm wonder what happens next. Should I follow up with the sleep center or my doctor?

Hi BubbaHill,
Sounds hauntingly familiar to my experience.
My sleep center said they could only tell my Doc the results. My Doc said "so what did they tell you at the sleep center". When I said "nothing" he spent 10 minutes looking for a copy of the report and then said you have an AHI of 12 and require a pressure of 7cm and that was it!
Glad I had educated myself prior to this whole ordeal.
I have found that with my auto-adjusting cpap (probably what they used for your sleep study) that if the lowest pressure is set at less than 6cm I sometimes feel like I'm not getting enough air. This may be what happened to you. If you get an auto-pap and have the same problem check the min pressure setting and try bumping it up a little.
Great to hear you felt better in the morning!
Good Luck!
