Need help with Rescan 5.7

Post by jaybee72 » Fri Oct 05, 2007 7:32 pm

Hello - I have recently installed Rescan 5.7 and bought the Resmed card reader to get data from my S8 Elite. But, I am having trouble getting any detailed data.

When I installed the card reader driver it did not go exactly as the installer dialog indicated it should, but the device manager says the correct driver is installed and working.

When I go in Rescan to the download menu and then select "resscan data card" it downloads my compliance data just fine from the card. This tells me the card reader is working. The most recent data is in blue which means detailed data is available.

According to Resscan's help I need to select "smartmedia card" from the download menu then "detailed data" to get the detailed data. But, both detailed data and summary data are in grey which the help says means the smartcard is not properly seated in the reader.

So, what am I screwing up here? Any suggestions?

Thank you!

jaybee,

Did you install ResScan or AutoScan? The version numbers you list do not match. (ResScan 3.2 or AutoScan 5.7 are the choices I am familiar with). Can't help with AutoScan, but may be able to about ResScan.

JayBee, that information is not provided by the Elite. Check your AutoScan 5.7 manual or the Help section.

Oops! I guess I got Resscan on the brain since the card reader was sitting right here in plain view with it written on the top. I am using AUTOSCAN 5.7.

Slinky - why do you say an Elite doesn't have detailed data?

I see now in the Autoscan help that detailed data is not available for the Elite - I thought it was. I guess I'm mixing up terminology - I just found the night profile info, which is the data I was looking for.

The ResSCan card and reader are not the same as the SmartCard card and reader (though the ResScan card is in fact using "SmartCard" technology!).

The Resmed SmartCard works with ResLink modules and is the earlier of the two technologies.

Cheers,

Bill

BillBolton, there was discussion quite some time ago about the Resmed S7 Elite being able to be "turned into" an Auto via software but that it caused so many problems that "feature" was not included in the S8s. Do you know anything about that?

I'm not aware of any particular problems with the S7 AutoScore (aka Elite) to S7 Autoset Sprirt upgrade process.

There is a similar functional upgrade available in between the two equivalent Auto models in the S8 range... Resmed part Number 33949... but I don't know how it is delivered.

Cheers,

Bill

Thank you, BillBolton!

Makes you wonder why the *$^%& local DME suppliers get in such a twit if we waltz in w/a script to change from the Elite to the AutoSet Vantage if all they need to do is invest in that particular software!

Do you know anything about their ResTraxx? I want to ask my sleep lab if they are thinking of utilizing ResTraxx next time I see or talk to my sleep lab manager.

Its been around for a while in one form or another. The original name was SomnoTraxx.

Here's the current brochure....

http://www.resmed.com/en-us/products/cl ... nglish.pdf

And here's a user story....

http://www.pantagraph.com/articles/2007 ... 141725.txt

And here's some Compliance and Efficacy research that has been done using ResTraxx as a part of the method...

Bill

That 33949 conversion software is only $549. It would pay for itself in no time converting Elites to Vantages. DMEs ARE dumb!!! They could save themselves some headaches and keep some customors they are currently alienating.

Thanks for the URLs, BillBolton. I really appreciate your sharing all this info!
