fungal infections

Post by Elle » Fri Aug 24, 2007 11:35 pm

Does anyone notice their nose gets white from the humidifier. I am wondering if this is a fungal infection. I am going to take a break from cpap for a couple of days to see if it clears up. Can't use it without humidifier because it is too dry. TIA

I've wondered about this also. I have an extremely sore throat right now, and have been having all kinds of sinus issues - of course it might be something simpler like just getting dried out...

that's what Lindsey Lohan claimed when they pulled her over

I'd rinse it with a saline rhino rinse and pinch of baking soda, you don't want a fungal infection.
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

haha snore, I didn't use my cpap the last two nights to see if I could improve it and what amazed me is how many times I woke up during the night. It was just like the old pre cpap days when I felt like I was awake more than asleep. I had never attributed it to not breathing before. Guess I am back on the hose tonight. will go to doc on monday to see what this is. hope she won't think it's coke residue. have a good day all.

You might try a Zinc supplement 60 mg, to make it harder for the things to grow. Jim

It's cheap, and sometimes we don't get enough, so like many other things I add it.

I keep buying, throwing out and re-buying supplements as the research changes. This week it was too much vitamin B is bad for your heart. Another one on Vit C but of course I can't remember what they said but I have started to wean myself from my 500mgs a day of that. VitE used to be good for circulation now supposedly bad for heart. arghhhh

I take 1@ B-150, B-100, B-12, B-6, B-1 and 3,000 units C daily on top of a 1 a day mature vit. Plus 25,000 Bete Carotene, "E" 2@ 400 units and 15 others. I used to gag and choke on one pill, glad I got past that.

This white powder, any chance it is just minerals from using tap water in your tank? Does your tank have any orange, yellow or white deposits?

I know most of us use distilled, but I hear sometimes it gets mislabeled.

Any other symptoms? Nose itchy? Extra snot or mucous? If not, I'd guess it was the water.

No, nothing but distilled here. I just wondered since I recently put my humidifier up to 3. I also used antibiotics a while back and that's why I though it might be yeast. It is not itchy or sore but I just thought it looked a bit 'white'. I will check with doc but it was worth the experiment of not using cpap for a couple of nights to remind myself how well I sleep with it.

sore throat also

Post by Guest » Sat Aug 25, 2007 6:59 pm

i have been getting sore throats quite often also. i thought it was due to the surgery on my throat; but that was more than 2 years ago. maybe it is because of the humidifier settings!

This may be obvious and it may not. Are you changing the filters regularly. I find that if the filter gets dirty that I start to get throat issues.

sterioidal nasal sprays

Post by Guest » Sun Aug 26, 2007 8:33 am

If you are using a nasal spray, you might want to check if this is a listed potential side effect of the spray or ask your pharmacist, nI have seen fungal infections listed as a "discontnue use and consult physician list on some"
