EncorePro/CardReader troubles

Post by LyleHaze » Mon May 14, 2007 4:47 pm

OK, Ive read a lot, but now that it's time to make it work, I'm having troubles.
First time install EncorePro 1.8i, goes smoothly without issue.
Then I go to the smart card reader folder on the Encore disk and run Setup, which installs the Card Reader driver. OK so far.
After a reboot, I plug in the card reader for the first time.XP wants drivers. I say no to downloading from Seattle, and it finds local drivers without trouble. Driver Install claims success. Did I reboot again here? I don't recall.

SO, I run EncorePro, check the preferences, USB is already selected. I create a new patient and all is well. I pull the card out of my M-Series auto, plug it in and get a green light. Cool. I go to Interactions,Download SmartCard Data, and it appears to be working!
After a few seconds, the read fails with:
ErrorSource:
Respironics SmartCard 2, type0.1
Error Number 8004020F

Now I look around a bit, I have successfully got compliance data, but I can't even FIND any other data(not sure where to look, either)

The card light is RED. I pull and re-insert the card, and green light again. Light will change from green to red after about 30 seconds, or immediately whenever I try to download data. The error is always the one listed above.

I'm confused. Do I need to format the card before getting better data from it? Where do I look, what's next?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Lyle,

If you do a forum search on that number 8004020F, you'll get several threads to read.
One mentioned making sure the reader was plugged into a port in the back of the computer (or at least not going through a USB hub).
Another suggested that the card might have been erased after downloading.

If you HAVE compliance data from your download, you might want to try going back to the "Interaction download" date and when you double-click on it, make sure you select "Full Details" on the next little pop-up screen. Also, there's a place in the 1.8 menu items where you can select NOT to erase after downloading.

OK, replying to my own message, because it looked so lonely out there with a big Zero next to it.

I've been digging around some more in the menus, and I found the "other" reports. Just right click on the patient name and various report options come up.

I can only assume that the card is erased on read and the error I got means "card empty" or similar, but I have a LOT of information on the last week to 12 days of usage.

The good news is, the data looks pretty good. I am acclimating to the machine, and getting lower AHI's as I go. This is all good news to me. I'll review the data in more detail tomorrow. Tonight I'm ready for more sleep.

It will be a good day.

Your card will only hold about 7 days of "detailed" data.....then it turns into "compliance" data......if you don't get it downloaded by then.

My doctor is not interested. The machines he supplies report compliance only. I asked about getting an M-series auto, and he told me there is nothing there except compliance data.

I'm a bit disappointed, but at least I can get to the data myself.

The final problem from the original post: I was connected to a USB hub. A good quality one with a hefty power supply, but still, once the data was read, the card became unusable. After moving the card reader to a builtin port and re-installing the card driver, I was able to erase the card and the machine would then accept it OK.

Big thanks to Den for your help and patience.

Glad to hear it worked out.

Now, when (or if) you "go to your doctor".......you will know how your therapy is working.

Best wishes,

It must be working, she didn't have to sign in as Guest. That's a good sign, and Welcome. Jim
