Do you take any medications of any kind? If so, what?

How's your blood sugar levels?

See above links....many, many potential culprits for night sweats

Not always a good idea for various reasons... A/C yes, bedside fan no.
Somewhat off topic, but could you expand on your statement? I've never heard this before and have enjoyed a fan for many years. Thanks!

To OP - there are 'conditions' stemming from various systems, one being the autonomic nervous one, that produce gobs of sweat either as a main 'thing' or a side issue... depends, and it's logical to also see an endocrinologist who will be (hopefully) able to sort out other problems that might incidentally include 'hyperhidrosis' - fancy word for too much sweating. But please, don't try to diagnose it yourself... not in our pay grade (and I worked for yrs in offices of neuros). :D

I read a few yrs ago that fans were a bad idea for seniors as they dehydrate but don't really cool down much - I forget the science now but I actually do like my ceiling fans... so up to you I guess.

I am also a fan fan--ok, silly pun;
Since it does dry off external moisture, I keep water handy--and artificial tears, too.
Evaporating my sweat makes me feel cooler; no lie.
When it's hot, I can't avoid sweating--might as well use it.
Replacing the water is a smart plan--and essential if you plan to keep feeling well.
When I feel weird/disoriented/discombobulated, I know I need a drink.

We have no AC, so I have a fan blowing on me most of the night, in front of an open window (except when the smoke is too bad). It's pointed away from my husband, who gets cold even when I'm sweltering. I always sleep best when the room is cold and my bed is warm, and I have nightmares when I'm too hot at night. Every time we've slept in a room with AC, my husband wakes up with miserable sinus issues, so AC isn't an option for me (only the wine cellar gets AC, I've threatened to sleep in there!).

I just bought a new tower fan that is awesome. it has 6 speeds and a "natural breeze" feature, it's super quiet, and tells you the room temperature on a display big enough to see several feet away without my glasses (but no thermostat :( ). Around 4:30 a.m. I almost always wake up sweaty and hot and turn it up. About 6:30 I wake up chilled, turn it down, snuggle under the covers until I must get up.

I haven't had the sweats since I switched to all cotton sheets, covers and bedding. The polyester content sheets seemed to trap a lot of heat.
