extreme anxiety the last 2 months or so...not sure if correlated to being cooped up or what
Gramps and I began to get some anxiety/depression after a few weeks. Then, we started going to a local nature preserve at dawn to walk in the woods for an hour. Going early, there aren't many people on the trails. One morning, we saw no one.

Twice per week, we pick up lunch at a local restaurant. We order and pay on our phones. The restaurants bring it to the curbside and put it in the backseat.

We feel very well now. But, we miss friends and family so much. And, Gramps is whining about maybe the NFL misses the season. He also follows college basketball.

I hope you start feeling better quickly.

Thanks - I am now on Zoloft and Ativan and I have been trying to cut off drinking alcohol and limiting caffeine. I am also trying to take the Zoloft and Ativan at different times. The side effects are a pain but I guess the Ativan is meant for short-term while the Zoloft starts to work over time.

I hate taking medications but I guess that's life, and I know people who take a truck ton more.

How the Virus Won
Mr. Trump wanted to avoid disrupting the economy. So some of his health advisers, at Mr. Trump’s urging, told Americans at the end of February to continue to travel domestically and go on with their normal lives.

And they did. Millions moved across the country, cellphone data shows. Some unknowingly carried the virus with them.

“I’m encouraging New Yorkers to go on with your lives and get out on the town,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said on March 2.

More than 22,000 deaths in the New York City area could have been avoided if the country had started social distancing just one week earlier, Columbia University researchers estimate.

The symptom window is not the prime factor in the timing of hospitalizations and deaths. But you know that.

The exponential nature of virus spread makes using simple comparisons of the present number of cases to the present treatment capacity as a basis for decisionmaking a very, very silly and dangerous thing to do, in my opinion.

But no need to take my word for it; reality has a way of eventually asserting itself over spin. I only hope neighboring states don't have to build a wall in a few months to protect their hospitals from Arizonites. Just sayin'.
So reality just officially asserted itself, I guess, as state pats itself on the back for finally shutting a few barn doors some weeks after the horses, cows, and all are long, long gone.

Now a brief moment for some kindergarten-level Medicine 101:

1. First come the infections. 2. Then weeks and months later come the hospitalizations. 3. Finally weeks and months later come the deaths and the crippling lifetime aftereffects on the damaged survivors.

Generally speaking, waiting for step 3 to occur before intelligently and responsibly addressing a health issue is not considered best practice, either individually for patients or publicly for policy decisions in the midst of a pandemic.

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Our city's medical officer of health is seriously considering making masks mandatory in all commercial spaces.
A decision will be made by the end of this week.
I really hope that they are mandatory because I am seeing fewer people wearing masks when I go to the shops etc. compared with a few weeks ago.

I was very fortunate and took to wearing a mask very easily, unlike a few of my friends who are battling with them for some reason. I wonder if it is because I am used to "masking up" nightly and so having something on my face doesn't bother me as much? I also admit that going out is so much easier, no fussing with make up etc. Not that I actually often did that, but this is so simple. Just brush my hair, and no worries! :D

People hear and see what they want to see. Doesn't matter what the level of understanding.
Then they stick their heads in the sand so they don't have to even try to think or understand or god forbid.....use some plain old common sense. Like we have talked about in the past....I am so totally amazed at how some people simply can't think or formulate a thought on their own...makes me wonder how they even know to wipe their butts after a poop without asking someone how or what toilet paper to use.

I like Menards.
Security guards turn away everyone not wearing a mask.
A few grumpy people walk away pissed off--I'd rather not shop with them anyway . . .
Let their kind go to Walmart, where masks are only required for employees-
--optional for "covid customers"--sneeze, cough, touch the produce . . .
Nebraska is no longer REPORTING covid cases connected to food processing plants.
Yeah, nice.

You're amazed. I'm deeply depressed. I think as a culture we're doomed. Not specifically COVID-19, but the stupidity that affects all of our ability to solve long distance problems like climate change. Essentially if something is more than a few years out people don't as a rule want to deal with it.

Whole Foods, if you should be near one, also does this, though they will provide a mask.

Other local grocery stores, Home Depot, etc have a posted sign requiring a mask (which in my city is already mandated by local government) but no one enforcing it.

And I get SO ANGRY at people that wear a mask but don't cover their nose, or worse, cover their chin, only! ARRGGHH!!

We are going to need a lot more sand for people to stick their heads in.
