No, they're completely accurate.

Whenever you evaporate water, it leaves behind anything dissolved in the water, as the water level goes down, it leaves deposits on the sides,

The buildup may be minor, but it still happens.

Regardless, a vinegar rinse will remove the deposits.

The rattling probably scared the cats!

It also is a good idea for any water , even if using distilled water, starting fresh is good. Would you drink a glass of water you or others had left setting out overnight, if you had fresh at hand.

Tap water has chlorine and other chemicals in it, distilled doesn't so it's more prone to getting contaminated. Jim

I think he's attempting to insult you, though I have no idea why.

Your "clean" water may be clean, but that doesn't mean that there's nothing in it but H2O!

It naturally contains minerals. Also, assuming that you have indoor plumbing (which I'm sure you do), there is residue from your pipes!

There's absolutely nothing wrong with using distilled... as long as you realize that the only reason to use it is to avoid mineral buildup... not for some kind of safety or health reason, that the lies that DMEs tell people about how tap water will ruin the machine or it'll make them sick are just so much hooey.

People say that it's *dangerous* to use anything besides distilled, but that's BS:

Manuals in Europe say "fill the humidifier chamber with water", .... whereas in north america, they say "fill the humidifier chamber with distilled water".... so... why is it important to use distilled here and not there? maybe it's because there aren't gallons of distilled on every grocery stores shelves over there?
