cpap.com free return insurance?

Post by RogerSC » Fri Sep 07, 2018 5:14 pm

When did cpap.com return insurance become a store credit? I missed the change, and didn't see the policy change on the web site when I bought my last cpap mask there. I guess I must be pretty dense not to have known that.

AFAIK, it has always been their preference-well, at least most other places.
For this reason, I never tried more than one new mask at a time.
And I always ended up with a "keeper".
I even started with lower price selections, to move up later.

Where did you see store credit only? I could only find this below.

I know they fairly recently went from purchase insurance on some masks to free return insurance coming with all masks.
Even those that used to have rather high insurance costs are now free.

Free Return Insurance

This insurance allows you to return this item to us within 30 days of purchase for a full refund of the product's purchase price.

Return insurance makes sense if you are trying out new masks, new sizes of your current mask or if you simply want the option of returning the mask for a refund.

Please Note: Free return insurance is only available within the contiguous U.S.

Quoted from the email I got from cpap.com:

Greetings ,
We've received your return order #:2276341.
Returned Items:
Brevida™ Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask with Headgear - Fit Pack-Fit Pack: X-Small / Small and Medium / Large Cushions (Qty 1)
This order was returned with the RMA #:RT95288.
We've issued you a store credit in the amount of $84.55.
Please notify us upon placing your next order if you would like to use your store credit.
You can contact us by email at cpap@cpap.com or by calling 1-800-356-5221.

Not sure if any of the above numbers need to be edited out? Doesn't bother me one way or the other *smile*.

By the way, I replied with a note about changing customer policy without notice, and what I thought of that. Up until now, I've enjoyed using cpap.com...

Hmmm.
This is news to me.
Let me do some asking around. Will be next week before I expect to hear anything.

They've always credit you're credit card before and if this is the new policy it will cause people to stop trying masks.

I don't think it will for many or most people. I bought one from them. I didn't know if I'd get a refund or credit from their "mask insurance", but it didn't matter to me, because my goal was to find a mask that works, which is an ongoing process.

If you tried a couple of mask and returned them you could wind up with a few hundred dollars in credit. I know I've tried a couple of mask, tried one return it and try another and return it also looking for a better mask.

I have never used the insurance in the past or present, but I imagine the change (if there was a change) took place when they went from 'paid insurance' to free returns.

With it being free now, people could just order mask after mask to try,..... return them for a refund, and then buy them cheaper elsewhere. Considering this potential aspect of human behavior, I can't say I blame them for issuing store credits instead of refunds.

Why couldn't you use the credit for the first mask towards the second? If there is a cost difference you might have a few dollars plus or minus.

When they credited my Flex card, I just turned it around into the next purchase.
Not too hard; and considering their awesome prices, it was all right.

Following up on this one, got an email this morning that cpap.com is refunding the purchase price of the mask to my credit card. I do appreciate them straightening this out, it certainly got my attention *smile*. Redeems my good feelings about using their services.

By the way, I'd love to see a cpap mask collaboration between ResMed and Fisher & Paykel. Pairing the nice lightweight adjustable headgear from the Brevida and the quiet, lightweight P10 nose piece, now that would be a nice mask, in my opinion *smile*. I do get tired of the aggressive venting of the Swift FX. Going to try the P10 again for a while, and see how it goes. But that's another thread.
