Libido vs. Therapy

Post by Sleepy-eyes » Wed Dec 20, 2006 2:42 pm

Has anyone noticed an improvement in libido as a result of their sleep disorder therapy?

My Primary Care Physician put me on injections of Testosterone about a year and a half ago and I'm not really too happy about it. Oh, don't get me wrong, it brought me back to "normal", or what is a normal libido for me, but I don't like putting any synthetic chemicals into my body. I've heard and am looking forward to an improvement in memory, high blood pressure and libido.............in addition to better sleep. Anyone atest to improvements? (or is this a subject not to be discussed here?)

I think my wife's doctor must have put her on Testosterone injections. I'm the one on XPAP, anyone else besides me see the conflict here. Jim

My libido is apparently about where it should be for a 23 year old now. I used to be rather uninterested as a general rule. I'm still adjusting to the change.

Well, thus far, the only thing CPAP has done in that area was cause me to say, "Gee, honey, it's getting late. I love this cuddling and all but I gotta get home and mask up." I've only had a week of therapy though.

I suppose next time I'll just travel with the machine. lol

I guess that's a good one if the date is going badly.

My Dad said, "Always have a sleeping bag in your trunk, you sometimes never know where you're gonna end up." Now I need to ammend that by throwin' a BreatheX into the back. That way, I'll be set!

....a different type of Testosterone/Cpap and libidio.......

Post by JohnD » Wed Dec 20, 2006 7:55 pm

This may help anyone out there that uses Testosterone......I have been on Testosterone therapy for at least 15 years. Am 55, and for some reason, back when I was about 40, my testosterone levels were extremely low, about as low as a person without the "goods" ...in any case, I have been through just about every type of testosterone, injections, which I HATED, patches, (not good for sensitive skin), and creams. For many years, I gave myself the shots in the leg and HATED it every time. I finally said no more and found a fantastic cream to apply daily. You might want to check into this...it's sooo much easier, and there is no pain involved, and is very inexpensive compared to Androdgel etc. Your doctor can call the Central Avenue Pharmacy and order the cream, and they will ship it to you. It lasts MUCH longer than the others btw. It's called Testocreme. Here is the website:

http://www.testocreme.com/ The only pharmacy that makes it as far as I know is Central Avenue Pharmacy. They make it up as your order it, in other words, it's a compounding Pharmacy. http://caprx.com/ Dr. Kryger, the inventor of this formula, is very knowledgeable about hypogondadism and all the problems associated with it.

This creme has been my salvation from the dreaded shots and the expensive gels etc that are on the market. And I can tell you, Testocreme works!

As far as libido goes with cpap therapy, that's a difficult one for me to judge because of my problem with low testosterone. This much I know, when my levels of Testosterone are good, and my cpap is functioning right, my libido is fine.

How do you know when your testosterone's low? ...
What kind of test do you take?
If it's low, what kind of stuff can happen to you?
(besides not getting any action) ...

lol...well, I guess no action is somewhat of a sign.....seriously though, I get a testosterone level blood test once a year, along with a psa test, which is important if you are on testosterone therapy. The better test is the "free testosterone" one. (...it's not free as in free of cost) it's just called that.

When your levels are low, it's usually the libido that is not that great. Other issues can surface with long term low levels of Testosterone. I would do a Google search on it for the best info.

I would suggest going to a urologist, or your GP should be able to get your levels tested. Some also use a saliva test as well. Once you are tested, and it shows your levels are low for your age, your doctor can call the CAPR Pharmacy up and order the Testocreme...then it's just a matter of putting it on a clear area of skin daily...very easy!

Back to the original question.

For me, yes. Most definitely yes. It is interesting because I think I have other sleep problems - perhaps PLMD or RLS or discomfort from obesity and arthritis but while those problems affect the quality and depth of my sleep and fatigue levels they do not seem to affect the very distinct improvement in libido since beginning OSA therapy. I suspect this has to do with improvement in oxygenation levels.

David

BTW - This improvement occurred very quickly after beginning therapy.
Only go straight, don't know.
