I'm sorry guests that I have been having episodes of different problems, but I thought I was aloud to voice them here without difficulties. I guess I assumed wrong. So I deeply apologize that the mere sight of my name on a post draws you in to read what I have to say and then criticize me. One thing you have to realize is that just because I am a nurse does not mean I know everything, nor do I pretend to, that's why I ask questions. I don't specialize in med/surg and haven't for over 10 yrs. If I wasn't a nurse or if you didn't know I was, would you be so cruel? Probably not. I work in freaking geriatrics...nurse manager aka paper nurse. I have not used any nursing skills in over 10 yrs!!!!!. Please treat me as a lay person. I am not stupid, so excuse me if I don't do exactly what everyone tells me to do without questioning it. I trust RG and most of the others, but it doesn't mean that I can't question some of their solutions, especially if I believe that something won't work for me.....like using cpap without heated humidity to solve rain out....works for some....doesn't for me!!! Turns out, I don't have anymore rain out when I changed masks...I did that without following anyone else's good ideas. Why? Because that's what worked for me, but hearing everyone tell me their ideas helped me get to that conclusion. Without looking for pity from some of my fellow cpapers who are kind and supportive, I think I am no longer going to post here anymore, b/c for some reason I have become a target and I don't condone negativity. Misery loves company and I am way too much of a happy person to drown in it. Thanks for all that some of you have done for me, you have certainly helped me tremendously in all areas. I wish everyone continued success!!

Melissa-no pity-just a reality check. You post here under your own name with your photo as your avatar-asking questions of concern to you. You have drawn the attention of someone who is exhibiting signs of extreme jealousy and who is socially inept. In a situation like this in your community the behavior exhibited by this person would be considered harassment-and they would also be considered stalking behaviors. The tactics used by this person are intended to humiliate and intimidate you and the other people he/she has attacked personally. Just keep posting.

Melissa, please, do not take one guest's posts as an overall reflection of the majority opinion here!
I have enjoyed reading reports of your journey thus far with xpap and certainly value your observations and input! Keep 'um coming!!!
I'm certain that the majority of members and guests here feel the same way. Don't we learn from each others experiences?
(Besides, guest may be just a little crabby from lack of sleep! )

Hi Melissa. Glad to hear your rainout problems are gone! I have Gerd and they actually believe mine was caused by taking NSAIDS for too long for heel spurs. The meds(protonix) I take now control it, but I did have a time when I had to take Advil for back pain and my Gerd acted up. I am not supposed to take Ibuprofen unless my doctor orders it. Tylenol is all I take now and my Gerd has not been a problem! Hopefully by stopping the ibuprofen, this problem will clear for you!

So do you interpret everyone else's posts on here as a constant need for attention? Why are you only focusing on me? What is the difference in my posts vs anyone else's? I'm not accusing, I really want to know. You don't like it if I need help? I just don't get it. I didn't realize there was a limit of how much support we could ask for, is there? Did I ever say..."only help me, don't help anyone else"? Me asking for help with cpap therapy does not = me not getting attention at home...if my family could answer my questions about cpap, then I wouldn't be on here. So, if I make a post amongst everyone else's post that means everything is about me to you? Should I stumble upon an obstacle in my therapy and just sit here quietly waiting and hoping for someone else to post the very same question, b/c you think I'm saying "look at me!" LOL...You really need to figure out what you are so angry about in life to take it out on me. Now the most important question: If you don't like me, are sick of me, can't stand the questions I ask or what I do with the information when given solutions.....WHY DO YOU CLICK ON THE POST LINK?!?!?!?!

Melissa, PLEASE don't stop posting. Many (many, many, many) times I have been ready to post a question and log on to find that you just posted the same question I had. I have learned so much from reading the answers given here. Sometimes it's something I don't think will help me, but eventually I might have the problem and come back to re-read he post. You never know who else might be helped when you ask a question...so don't stop!

Melissa--the Guest who posts so cruelly is just an idiot--this is a support group for crying out loud--that what your supposed to do here--ask for help and support. I for one have appreciated your posts, as I am starting this whole thing at the same time as you, and I have problems too. I would guess that sometimes lurkers don't even have to ask questions because you've asked them first--you're doing a service!

Please, don't let one jerk ruin your experience here. There are many of us who would like to see you keep posting, and one or two bad apples who should just ignore your posts if they don't like them. When you post, you do so under your own name, there's no subterfuge, so if someone has taken an irrational dislike to you, they should be mature enough to ignore posts begun by you. It's just not that hard!

I second all that has been said here. Really do want you to hang in here. A good example is this thread. I never knew that GERD could be caused by too much Motrin. Heck, I used to make the stuff! Love your sign off line. "Best link between despair and hope is a good nights sleep." I think about that a lot. Take your own advice. Ron

Melissa,
Just remember the old saying about "Sticks and stones". Feel comfortable in whatever choice you make but they are all just words in cyberspace. I'm so glad I found this place and the contributions most have made including yourself. Peace.

Paul

BTW-because of this thread I just went out to buy some Prevacid-after reading the posts and looking at some more info online about GERD I decided on a trial of Prevacid to see if that the symptoms I thought were aerophagia from APAP since I never had symptoms before. I have seen 2 docs regarding the problem and satisfied it isn't cardiac. It has been more frequent-so a two week trial before my next MD appt.

Melissa,

What you describe is sounds a LOT like a complication of gerd. It isn't the gerd itself that is causing the breathing problem, it is possibly VCD. (Vocal Cord Dysfunction)

What happens with VCD is that the vocal cords are hypersensitive and irritants cause them to do what they were designed to do, protect your lungs.

I would suggest not only checking into gerd, but also VCD. It can *sometimes* be identified by PFT, but often has to be diagnosed through direct observation.

I would post as myself, but everytime I do, I am attacked, and my motives are questioned...
