Encore Pro Pre release

Post by munsterlander » Mon Oct 16, 2006 4:15 pm

I have been having trouble trying to get data from Encore Pro. I have deleted everthing I can find for encore including registry items. I reinstalled and still have the problem "Control not registered CLSID= ....".

When I click on Encore Pro I get a message that says that this is a Pre release of Encore Pro software.

Could this be my problem? Does anyone else have this message?

I am convinced this is a registry problem, I have searched for the CLSID number on my computer and can't find it.
I am at a loss here.

Jim (Munsterlander - that's my dog)

Pre release? I didn't know they made pre-releases. What version of Encore software? Did you purchase it at Cpap?

How much did you pay for it? What rev number? If this is from the very old
2002 download, it may not work anymore (trial time out).

I purchased the software from cpap.com. I have had trouble with it and have reinstalled it 5 or 6 times. It is version 1.6.2.2. I didn't get the message on the first install, but it comes up frequently now.

I spoke to Respironics today and the most current version of the software is 1.6.2.2i or more commonly known as 1.6i. Respironics states that they don't have pre-release software, so I am not sure where the error you are getting is coming from. You may need to wipe all traces of Encore Software from your hard drive, that would include previous versions of Encore Pro that have been on your computer. Sometimes a registry cleaner will work to get old files off the machine, but I don't recommend it unless you don't care if you have to reinstall your complete OS again. It can be tricky and dangerous to the OS.

What machine are you trying to use the software with Jim?

Encore Pro Error Messages

Post by lferrel » Wed Oct 18, 2006 5:14 pm

Jim,

I have gotten the same message before I gave up on getting the Encore Program to run. I have run a register cleaner to no effect.

I see you going through the same frustration I did.

I think the only hope we have is if someone out there has solved the Pre Release and Cannot Instantiate problems and can tell us what they did.

I use the Encore 1.5 and a Respironics Bipap Auto. I've loaded the software on a couple of machines with no problems. Seems most have problems loading the drivers for the card reader and getting the SQL server loaded correctly. If the 1.5 will work with your machine.......we can upload and swap. I would like to see a copy of yours anyway to see what is going on. If you know someone that has a computer that Encore has not been loaded on maybe try and reload it onto their computer. You can always delete/remove it. See if it works there or if something is wrong with your copy of Encore. I once bought a pedigree software for dogs that really was a beta/test version. They didn't know how I ended up getting it but sent me another after I returned it.

It must not be the software because it works on one of my computers and not on the other.

Ok Lowell, if you are sure it is not the software. I just thought from your statement you never got it to run either. With the software at about $100 a copy, it should run with no problem, one reason I offered the 1.5 for a look at the 1.6 However, not sure it will run with all machines. Seems the latest Apaps "M" series require the 1.6. I paid $200 for my Encore 1.5 and cardreader at Cpap. That would surely be a waste if I could not get it to run properly. Respironics and the others don't want to offer any help or updates for the individual users of the software, only medical professionals. I have all the different softwares except the 1.6 anyway.

Encore Pro Problems

I agree, it should work without all this hassle. I have never had such a problem installing a piece of software, and looking at the posts over the last several months, I know that Jim and I are not the only ones.

Is most of this related to the Encore 1.6? I actually purchased the 1.4 from Cpap and got the 1.5 from Respironics download site when they had it as an update for free. (That didn't last to long, now they've changed policies so no one gets updates except doctors, labs, etc.) Maybe Derek can tell you what is going on, he developed similiar software. Don't know why it would load on one computer for you and not another. I assume you were running the same windows on both. I run XP Pro on all my computers. If I had a problem, I would try it on another of my computers. I'm sure if you ever have to reload the computer you will try it again. I'm loading mine and new builds all the time.

As someone who has worked in the computer industry for 10+ years, just because it works on one computer doesn't mean that its not the software's fault that it doesn't work on another

There are many many things that can (and do) go wrong with software.

I tried again this morning and get the same "cannot instantiate control" problem. Using an M series pro, I can not access all of the data from Myencore either.

Yesterday I deleted everything. I went into the registry and deleted all of the encore files I could find including the CLSID that is included in the error message. I have a registry repair software program that I also ran. I am very disappointed this morning. I could not recommend anyone with an M series machine buying this software.

I'm using the software with an M Series Pro and don't have the problem so it does work for some people.

It may be that the 'control' that is missing is not installed by Encore Pro at all and that no amount of installing/uninstalling will fix the problem. Did you go a Google on the class ID (CLSID)? You may need to determine the missing piece and install that first. Can you post the CLSID here?

Whats your version of Windows and IE? Does it have all the latests patches applied? http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
