Next ResMed Product -- 11 Series?
Does anyone know when the S9 was released and when the AirSense 10 was released?
I'm thinking of buying a new machine and using my current S9 for travel only. I don't want to spend the money on an AirSense 10 if there is a decent chance ResMed will release a newer model within the next year.
I was trying to gauge release dates to see how frequently ResMed releases produts.

Re: Next ResMed Product -- 11 Series?
S9 was 2010 I think.
AirSense 10 was 2 years ago so 2014
ResMed went backwards..just released the AirStart line of el cheapo bricks which are essentially no frills and no data AirSense machines.
I wouldn't hold my breath either waiting on a full data new model from ResMed. I would be real surprised if they come out with an 11 before at least 2 years from now.
But you never know with these manufacturers....they keep things a closely guarded secret until the new models are actually released.

What options are you all looking to be added or upgraded for the next resmed update?

Re: Next ResMed Product -- 11 Series?
Thanks. I knew it was before my time and just never looked into when it was the latest and greatest.palerider wrote:and the s8 in 2005.
It seems like both brands (ResMed and Respironics) seem to go on a 4 to 5 year time frame from latest and greatest to old news.
But sometimes a little sooner...like the Respironics M series which was 2007 (I think but might have been late 2006..I had one of the first M Series APAP that only offered C Flex in auto mode and it's birthday was early 2007) and the PR S1 50 Series which was released late fall/early winter 2009.

My first DME tried to shove off an S8 on me in 2010.
It would have been an Escape . . .
Thanks to this forum, I got an S9.

so many questions, (like the one that started this thread) can be found with a quick google, which turns up product release notes from some corner of the web, and I happened to notice that one last night while checking to confirm that the info was actually easily obtainable.Pugsy wrote:Thanks. I don't know about earlier models, but I can say the computing power jump from the mid 2005 to the 2010 era was really big, but less so from 2010 to now, which is probably part of the reason that the latest models aren't that much improved, functionally, over the previous models.

Re: Next ResMed Product -- 11 Series?
Like any manufacturer of durable goods - cars, boats, cameras, smart phones, etc. ad infinitum - release frequency is based totally on market demand and competitive effort. Just as rain falling on the earth, floods occur when the earth's ability to absorb water diminishes. If an xPAP's demand was high enough and competition was lagging, one could expect something sooner - if for no other reason than to be first to fill the void. When Samsung pulled the plug on the Note 7, every competitor in the world rushed to fill the void - much talk was generated in trying to answer the question "what should I get to replace?" Given the relatively long life cycle of xPAP products compared to smart phones, I would not expect any major change until something happens in the marketplace to drive demand upward. Keep in mind, from the manufacturer's point of view they have only one channel of distribution to satisfy and the end user is nowhere in it. Every day one sees tons of advertising suggesting "ask your physician about ExoTrol for your fill-in-the-blank-itis;" nowhere do you see the same for xPAP devices. That pressure point doesn't exist for the manufacturer, so why spend money attacking it? We are consumers in name only, our only power is in creating pressure points on an individual basis; the more information we have as individuals and the more we use it in dealing within the distribution community, the more our voices come to matter.southerndoc wrote: I'm thinking of buying a new machine and using my current S9 for travel only. As silly as it sounds, I'm looking for something with Apple HealthKit integration.

You already have it available in the AirSense 10 series - do not include the AirStart machines in thinking of solutions.southerndoc wrote:As silly as it sounds, I'm looking for something with Apple HealthKit integration.

I agree I would love this. I already have my Apple Watch and take my BP twice a day and it links right in and also my scale syncs to Apple Health. l also use the Alivecor mobile ekg for my afib and I am awaiting the release of Alivecor's Apple Watch band.southerndoc wrote:As silly as it sounds, I'm looking for something with Apple HealthKit integration.
