Like so many others have said, this forum has been a exceedingly helpful for new CPAP users climbing the knowledge curve. Many, many of my questions have already been asked and adequately answered. However, I haven't found a topic that seems to address a question I have about my results or possibly auto-CPAP in general. I purchased my machine while still waiting for my sleep report (It took 4 weeks to get the stupid paperwork), and began with a wide open 4-20 auto setting. I didn't struggle with mask or CPAP, and had good sleep and AHI numbers by 2nd night. Coming up to the 1 month mark with CPAP, sleep study in hand, I have self-adjusted to 9.5-16 auto mode.
The question: Regardless of the lowest pressure thresholds I have used, {4, 7, 8, 9 and now 9.5} my pressure graph always looks like a saw blade with no discernible events causing the rise in pressure. What am I missing? To be clear, this isn't a case where I started at 4 cm and the machine had to increase pressure to maintain airway and never came down below some higher number the rest of the night.
I would expect hypopneas, RERA, CA, snoring, flow limitations, etc. to cause the software to drive up pressure. After resolution, the pressure should come back down. What I see is the machine going from the minimum pressure up 1-2 cm H2O and then almost immediately coming back down ... over and over while the flagged events are non-existent for that time period. Ramp is off, Opti-Start is off, Flex is off. Does the software attempt to do a mini-titration study?
Pressure graph looks like a saw blade
Re: Pressure graph looks like a saw blade
no, the machine is programmed, counter-intuitively, to start getting antsy and poking at you if you're sleeping very peacefully and evenly, having no issues whatsoever... it's like it gets restless and bored and starts saying "are you ok? are you ok? are you ok?" (allegedly trying to see if it can make perfect better) but if you're NOT sleeping well, then it sits there sucking it's thumb and never tries to make things better... it's seems stupid.Jstone wrote: Does the software attempt to do a mini-titration study?

Despite the rather pointed looking pressure increases they really aren't anywhere that fast...it's gradual increase and a gradual decrease.
