Low AHI but cannot go back to sleep after events.
I have been suffering from sleep deprivation for a number of years now. Sleep doctors think I have very mild and well managed apnea with my CPAP because my AHI is so low. It seems i only have 1-4 total events on average per night using CPAP. My problem is that once awakened, I have a great deal of difficulty going back to sleep. It can take hours. My usual awakening time is between 2-4 in the morining and it can be 2 or 3 hours before I can fall back asleep. I have tried the occasional medicine but they make me feel so strange during the day I prefer to avoid these. Anyone know why it would be so hard to go back to sleep? I do not wake up thinking horrible disturbing thoughts etc.

Need info to advise anything! What time do you go to bed? Maybe you no longer need as many hours of sleep as you did prior to Cpap so try going to bed later. Which meds have you tried? You say 'it seems' that you only have 1-4 events, but how do you know that? Are you using software or just reading the machine display? What machine (full name/model #) and mask are you using? What are your pressure settings? AHI? Any chance you could have acid reflux that awakens and keeps you awake?
