Hi everyone!
I'm a new user of the CPAP machine of three weeks. My sleep study ahi was 29. Ahi numbers have been real good usually between 0 and 1 most nights sometimes a little higher. I seem just as tired or more tired since I started using the machine. I seem to wake up so many times during the night. I'm using the nasal face mask Philips wisp. It seems like the mask is hard to breathe in kind of suffocating. So last night I changed from a large cushion to an extra large cushion. It seemed much easier to breathe. My question is does it hurt anything by going toto large cushion? Going by the paper template they send with the mask I'm at a large size. My ahi was still good last night .7. I don't know if going with the extra large cushion if i needed to raise the pressure up or if I was going to run into more problems just kind of curious. The DME has the pressure at 6. Thanks!

Re: nasal mask cushion sizing
Tbe templates only address size in two dimensions.
Last time I checked, noses are three dimensional--some more so than others.
Those templates are merely an estimate.

Why not bump your pressure by e.g. 2 cms to 8 or 9 tonight and see how you feel... 6 is very low.
Re: nasal mask cushion sizing
It hurts nothing to use a larger size than what a person gets measured for.
It also wouldn't hurt anything to use a little more than 6 cm pressure if it helps with the air movement.
Some people just don't feel like enough air is moving at such a low pressure. While we won't suffocate at low pressures it can sure feel like it and when we feel suffocated we don't sleep well. Can't relax and get to sleep and you gotta get to sleep and stay asleep for this whole cpap thing to help.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to up the pressure to 7 tonight to see if that also feels better.
