Sleep Apnea without snoring

Post by D.H. » Mon Sep 12, 2016 3:26 pm

I realize that most of the diagnosed patients have (or had) a snoring problem. However, I suspect that there's a minority that had silent apnea, including the obstructive variety.

I would guess that the real percentage of silent apnea suffers (to total apnea sufferers) is higher, since snoring is so frequently the trigger to getting tested.

How about when breathing is stopped and a person gasps for breath? Nothing silent about it.

Maybe you'd be better off doing more reading up on, and.........a lot less theorizing on the subject. ( of apnea)

It's a somewhat archaic term, but, this would fit...........

dun·der·head
/ˈdəndərˌhed/
noun
informal
noun: dunderhead; plural noun: dunderheads
a stupid person.

You CAN have apnea without snoring. http://premiersleepsolutions.com/obstru ... ths-facts/
You can snore and not have apnea (my husband totally passed his sleep test).
You can snore and not realize it without a complaining bed partner or without teenagers three doors away with supersonic hearing.
You can snore and be in complete denial as to the cause of said snoring (I claimed allergies for many years!).
You can blame the dog (I tried that, too!).
