cpap pillow sizes
I'm new to CPAPs. I'm amazed at the difference in how I feel!! !! The first size nose pillow I was given was a medium. It felt like it was falling out of my nose (at the top of the nostril - and you could hear and feel a lot of air escaping) and when I exhaled I met with a LOT of resistance. If I held it in place I had no problems inhaling or exhaling. I then got a pillow that was a small. It worked great - no problems at all inhaling or exhaling. However, I didn't feel quite as rested in the morning using the small pillows as I did with the medium pillow. I feel like I got a lot more air pressure with the medium. Any one else have this problem and are there any solutions? I don't want to go to a mask type.
Re: cpap pillow sizes
You may want to step up to a large. I use the P10 Pillow mask. The pillows are only meant to rest on the opening of the nostrils, Unless you have a specific mask that is meant to be inserted in the nose.
I often need to reseat them to center them after the air is flowing for comfort.
I also recommend getting some lanolin, lanosol is probably the most popular brand. It helps heal chapped skin. If you pillows are not fitting well you will get an air leak that will cause wind burn and dry/crack your nose skin. It is used by nursing mothers to prevent or heal chapped nipples. It is in the baby department

Re: cpap pillow sizes
LSAT - I was not told that the pillows did not go "in the nose".
Rohdej - Thank you for the clarification and also the recommendation on lanolin.
I am eligible through insurance to receive 1 nasal pillow per month. I believe I will try the large one next time. Thanks again.
