jaw device and cpap together?
anyone tried this to get AHI's down? I still go through spurts where the AHI's hover around 3 or so. I know under 5 is considered controlled but when mine go up I feel like crud. I changed masks and got my leaks down to good numbers but have never had an ahi less than 1.5

What is the AHI breakdown into each event category when the AHI is higher than you would like to see it and you feel like crud?
What "jaw device" are you talking about? I don't know what "this" is.
Chin strap maybe? Mouth guard maybe?

Re: jaw device and cpap together?
Sorry I wasn't more clear, a mandibular advancement device. My AHI breakdown is almost exclusively hypopnea with an occasional central thrown in for good measure. (ie one central every couple of nights) I have had pretty much every medical test known to man and there is nothing left to explain the feeling like crud. Not on any medication. let me see if I can remember how to post the sleepyhead stuff. BRB.

I think I did it right. I already have problems with aerophagia so I can't really increase pressure more. When I select auto and set a range it goes straight to the top of the range and stays there, no matter how high I set it

Yes, no calendar tho'.
Re: jaw device and cpap together?
hypopneas mean more pressure is needed.

that's a problem then.
auto mode with a lower minimum for the times you don't need more pressure and a higher max for the times you do could work. but... it's a delicate balancing line.

Re: jaw device and cpap together?
keroseneburner, Are you using the Full face mask listed in your profile? (amaraview mask) I use a nasal pillow and I know that my minimal air swallowing is from not maintaining a good tongue seal on the roof of my mouth.
Is it possible that the air swallowing stems from nasal congestion? over humidity? under humidity levels?
I have read rumors that using a mandibular advancement device can change the pressure requirements to treat the apneas but it is definitely an expensive experiment.
I have had problems in the past with TMJ - lock jaw. The mandibular advancement device is off the table for me.
I found this looking for information on aerophagia.
