transitory vision changes after CPAP

Post by seekingwellness2016 » Wed Sep 07, 2016 7:36 pm

When I went home after my CPAP titration (using a nasal mask), for a few hours I was concerned that maybe all the air forcefully blown into my nose and sinuses could have provoked an aneurysm, because I had a headache and my vision was abnormal - could not focus well enough to clearly see the print on my cell phone screen, for example. Fortunately this resolved after a few hours. Could this have been due to dry eyes? Is this a common side-effect of CPAP and, if so, how to minimize it?

I always wake with dry eyes, partly due to the cpap, and partly due to my rx eye drops for glaucoma.
I use artificial tears when I open my eyes, or a lubricant drop if the humidity is very low.
Sometimes I need a little extra moisture for clear vision. It is what it is. I take care of it.

I have to use dry eye drops when I wake up. I have one eye that is worse than the other for dryness, and that was before cpap. Since starting cpap, I have noticed both eyes are very dry in the morning, and I absolutely need the drops as soon as I get up. I got some called Systane at Wal mart ($20). expensive but supposed to be the best according to my eye Dr.

Dry eyes are not uncommon, but as what you experienced was a bit more, I'd remember it but for now put it down to having the test, because they do try you at extremes of Cpap to get best and worst case scenarios, the limits of when and how you react to those, so your symptoms may never recur. If they do when you're at home, then see a doctor.
