EPR just after starting
EPR just after starting
Is it my imagination is EPR not working when I first start my Resmed AirsSense 10 Autoset? My current EPR is set at 3.
I'm really new to this and when I first started with the prescribed 6-20 cmH2O I felt like I was suffocating. After researching on this forum I found that many people felt better with a higher low pressure. I tried 7 and 8 and like the three little bears 9 was just right.
Now 9 cmH2O feels great in the inhale but when I first start the machine I have a bit of trouble on the exhale. It's like I'm fighting with the machine. After a bit I feel better, the breathing is easier and the exhale feels more natural. I tried going back to 8 cmH2O and this sensation was still present. For me it feels like anything below 8 cmH2O is too little and I start having problems on the inhale which will last longer than the first minutes of the therapy.
Looking the SleepyHead data I've noticed that the Pressure Graph is nonexistent for the first 40 seconds or so. Does this mean the machine is in some sort of startup mode and EPR is not working?
Sorry if this is described elsewhere but my searching failed to come up with an answer.

Are you sure EPR is turned on? If it is...what is it set to?

See first line of his post... 3.
Re: EPR just after starting
Go into the clinical setup menu and verify the settings relating to EPR and when it is to be used (full time or ramp)

I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.
Re: EPR just after starting
I should have mentioned these settings in my first post.
EPR is full time.
Ramp is OFF.
EPR is full time.
Ramp is OFF.

Re: EPR just after starting
I have the same machine Ive tried the full fasks masks and the phillips resporonics nasal pillows and the full face masks. The full face masks wont work for me since IM a nose breather. Breating out is terrible and the reason the masks comes off in the middle of the night. Ive yet to find a fix for exhaling. The nasal masks which covers the whole nose may work better I dont know. If anybody has an opinion on that what is it?
Exhaling easier in full nasal masks or nasal pillows? I have EPR set at 3 and pressure is 9.

Re: EPR just after starting
If EPR is set to full time...I have no idea what might be going on here with the perceived problems with exhale relief not feeling like it should.

Why are you trying to hijack lawr1000's thread? Not nice. Your question is not relevant to this thread. Copy it and start a separate thread.cosmosleeper wrote: blah blah blah

Thanks for trying. Luckily this sensation/perception doesn't last long and it's not severe.Pugsy wrote:If EPR is set to full time...I have no idea what might be going on here with the perceived problems with exhale relief not feeling like it should.
