CPAP and Mouthguard for Grinding

So I have had my cpap for about 1.5 years now and I also sleep with a Mouthguard for grinding my teeth. I have noticed that I go through almost all of my water chamber almost every night. I also still feel tired quite often. I am trying a chin strap but I don't think it is a very good chin strap cuz the Velcro doesn't hold very well. Do you guys have any ideas on what I can do different or other chin straps I should try. Thanks

What machine (full name/model) do you use? And which mask? What are your pressure settings? Do you live in an area that's very dry even now? Chin straps are not perfect and some less so than others... have you tried any full face masks? Without some info, it's hard to advise, but if you're tired and your pressure settings are low, they might need tweaking. Download SleepyHead software (free), post graphs, etc. on Imgur.com and leave a link to those in this thread so we can see what's going on overnight.

I will on getting a graph. I use a resmed air sense 10 with a nasal mask. Pressure set at 10 and therapist has changed that a few times. It is dry in central California but even when it isn't I still use all the water. Machine says most mornings I was around 2-3 events per hour.

There's a lot more to it than what the machine says, which is why I mentioned the software (which most here use). You didn't mention if you'd used FFMs.

By FFM do you mean full face mask? Sorry not used to the lingo. I have not tried a full Face mask only nasal pillows and now the nasal mask.

Have you considered trying a soft cervical collar instead of the chin strap. I could not stand the chin strap when I tried it. Walmart sells them for less than $5. http://www.walmart.com/search/?query=dm ... dmi%20firm

I've never had a velcro problem with the original Ruby Chinstrap, mine is a few years old too. Look for the manufacturer name Carefusion. CPAP.com has a copy that I don't like as much.

If you have a really big head order the extra large. If not, order the regular size. Also, it gets more pliable and softer as time goes on, read more comfortable, tho you'll have to take up some slack with the velcro.

Hi there, I am a dentist. I have many patients that wear mouthguards that manage their apnea and address grinding at the same time. If your AHI is mild to modereate, you can get an oral appliance made that addresses both. Be prepared for it to crack as the forces we generate during grinding are high. Anticipate the cost of repairing them.

i understand why you would say that. But seriously, I was trying to help.
to add to this, as a grinder, you want an appliance that will let you go from side to side movements for your jaw
there are over 25 oral appliances, and most of them lock your jaw into one position and don't give you any room to go side to side, which can really make some people uncomfortable
