Can one change the ID on SH?

Post by JimW159 » Mon Sep 05, 2016 5:35 pm

I am getting a new machine to try for a while. On SH I set the profile with my name only. I have since set up a second profile for the new machine with my name and the machine name. What I would like to do is to edit the profile ID for the first machine to include the machine name as well. In editing SH's profiles I find the first ID as seen upon entering SH cannot be edited. If I make changes to the profile, nothing carries forward to the entry screen. Is there any way to change the ID other that creating a new profile and download data for that new ID? That assumes all the data previously downloaded remains on the card and will, in fact, duplicate the original data.

generally better to just import all your data into one profile, so you can have a complete view of your sleep.

aside from that, try renaming directories in the sleepyhead data folder.

Will SH mix data downloads from machines of different brands and models into the same profile without confusion?

yup, that's why I recommended that approach.

SleepyHead doesn't care how many machines or brands you use in one profile. I think I have 6 machines under one profile.
What SleepyHead can't handle is if you use 2 different machines within the same reporting session.

I did get curious as to whether we could edit a profile ID though.
And it can be done.
You do have to go to the Sleepyhead folder in your MyDocuments folder and then go into the Profiles folder and rename the profile.
Then SleepyHead will give you that newly edited choice in the menu when you open SleepyHead.
I just renamed one of the profiles that I had been using last week testing the possessed machine and it worked just fine.

Works a charm! It is wonderful what can be done if you just ask the right person the question.
I will just have to remember to not change machines in my sleep.
Thanks
