Brownouts and CPAP

Post by D. H. » Sat Sep 03, 2016 7:10 pm

A friend of mine claims that where he lives, there are frequent brownouts and that this is affecting the behavior of his CPAP.

Being that a CPAP machine will work equally well in the US (120 volts - 60 Hertz), Europe (220 volts - 50 Hertz), and Japan (100 volts - 50 or 60 Hertz in different places), I can't imagine that a minor voltage reduction would have an affect.

Does anybody know about this?

It was supposed to be a general question. However, he has a Respironics PR System One 60 Series REMstar Pro with C-flex+.

That's why lots of us use UPS devices (battery backups) to keep them from harm and to keep the machines blowing through temporary outages, blips or brownouts.
You can buy very reasonably priced ones at Walmart.

The problem with brown outs is that the same crappy service that gives you brown outs often gives you power surges.
Buy a good UPS with surge protection to power your electronics.
