We picked up bedbugs from a hotel and have been dealing with trying to get rid of them for several weeks. We are supposed to stay with friends on an overnight trip, so am trying my best to make sure we don't take any hitchhikers with us. I know how to treat clothes, luggage, etc... to make sure those are BB free, but how do I make sure our CPAPs are BB free?
I'm ordering a PackTite which will bring temps up to between 115F and 125F degrees. Will a CPAP machine be about to withstand those temps?

Re: Bedbugs and CPAP
Electronics may be damaged by those temperatures; and insecticide is bad for YOU.
One solution would be to isolate the unplugged device in a plastic bag for a whole week, (yes, you need spares)
with glue traps nearby inside, with a drop of human blood (yours) in the center of each trap. (They get hungry)
(This is also recommended for laptops and other electronics.)
Replace the filter, and wash all washable parts as normal, cleaning the headgear in hot water.

storage and transport temps are listed in the resmed manual for the s9 series as -4f to 140f (-20c to 60c).howdidigetbb wrote:I'm ordering a PackTite which will bring temps up to between 115F and 125F degrees. Will a CPAP machine be about to withstand those temps?
respironics prs1 machine manual lists the same.

Re: Bedbugs and CPAP
Please bake away. Sticky traps with blood are not effective. Bedbugs are attracted to our exhaled CO2 and our body heat. as much as it pains you or anyone else that has been through the trauma of bed bugs. If Palerider wasn't able to pull up the hot long term storage info. It would still be worth the $800 or less experiment to not transplant bedbugs into a new environment. I lived through 6 mnths and 2 pest services in my apartment. Please bake it all! Don't share. Seagate lists 60C, 140F as the max operating temp for disk drives. Remove your laptop battery and bake that too!

If you have spare equiptment, seal it up moisture tight, place in a 5 below freezer for a week. this should kill the bugs and eggs. I had a little house I rented to a low life, He paid his rent and I left Him alone. He moved out after 5 years, I shut down the house as I dont want to rent anything out, ever.
Come to find out, he had bed bugs, a massive invasion, i found out about them after leaving the house without heat for 2 years. I was reopening the house for my son, sans divorce. hundreds of molted shells on the window sills, spider webs everywhere, they had a field day eating them. the cold winters killed them, lucky for me, no insectcides involved. excessive heat and cold are effective. After a massive clean up, no signs 2 years later. Good luck, they are tough. If you have clothes bag them, Put them in a - 5 deg below zero freezes for a week or more then wash with hot water. Search Google, for options. Jim I hate bugs.....
