PR System one heated humidifier-heated hose? HELP

Post by Michelle-OH » Tue Dec 29, 2015 8:19 pm

So, I guess I won't be using my cpap tonight because the heated tubing the DME gave me tonight is for the PR System One 60 Series Heated Tube Humidifier instead of the PR system One Heated Humidifier. I have no hose for tonight. I am so confused and frustrated. From looking on cpap.com it appears I can't even use a heated tube with my humidifier, there isn't one? I stayed home from work today cause I felt so bad after having to take off my mask last night around 3 a.m. due to the heavy rainout, and it looks like I will feel even worse tomorrow.

I don't understand. You apparently had a hose last night........you said you had rainout. Did you give it back to the DME?

Yep, sure did. I'm a dumb ass because I didn't look at the hose they gave me before I left.

I believe you can use the hose you have by reversing it end for end.
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

You need to get the heated hose Kit ... which has a new cover for the humidifier and a 80 watt power supply instead of a 60 Watt

That's what I was thinking, too, but I'm not entirely familiar with those hoses and all that goes with using them.

Unfortunately it doesn't fit, it's huge compared to either my short hose or the humidifier connection.

what if you wrap several layers of duct tape around the humidifier elbow

I can try. Any idea if my DME is likely to have the upgrade kit, or should I just get a plain hose from them and order the kit from cpap.com?

I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time and the information and product you got weren't helpful. Unfortunately, we thought you had the humidifier pictured in your profile (look closely at the hose connector, the one in your profile has the connector plug for the heated hose but the one for the heated humidifier has a plain connector). Please update your profile so folks can give more helpful information about the product you actually have.

You can either upgrade the humidifier using the upgrade kit, exchange your humidifier for the one with the heated tube (if possible), or go back to the stand-alone heated tube you had that was missing the power supply. I don't have enough expertise to advise on the differences between those choices. Also, FYI, even though the heated hose won't work on the standard connector, a standard hose will work on the heated connector if necessary. And if your insurance isn't going to cover the cost of the upgrade, cpap.com may be much cheaper.

Any chance you can get hold of your sleep center and explain the situation and ask for a tube for tonight?

I can't believe they took back your heated hose that you already paid for then charged you for the new one. The problem came up when you picked the wrong humidifier from the 2 links at cpap.com and we went with the one that already had the connections. There is a kit that will change the lid so you can use it. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/pr-hea ... e-kit.html
I would go with the tape tonight.

I would take the humidifier and power brick back and ask them to exchange it for one with a heated hose elbow and the larger power brick ... needs to be a 80Watt one

This is the cpap and humidifier I purchased from you earlier this month, lol. I'm not complaining, please don't think that.

Now I understand .... then you should just purchase the kit from cpap.com and then you will have a spare hose
