Remstar respironics Philips - pressure doesn't decrease

Post by eitan » Thu Dec 24, 2015 1:12 am

I'm using the Respironics system and I have a problem, maybe you could help: The system is set on automatic mode (4 - . the pressure is building up during the night but doesn't seem to decrease when necessary . For example, if I wake up and breath normally, the mask is still on and the system work (but want to get back to sleep), the pressure stays at 8 and never comes down. This is disturbing me to back to sleep (it's too high). I expect the pressure to decrease gradually when there is no obstruction of breathing. I would appreciate any advice. What is the exact model of machine you have? (Model name should be on top and model number is on the bottom)

Maybe you don't actually have an APAP/Auto and the lowest pressure is the Ramp starting pressure and the higher pressure is actually the fixed/straight pressure it is set to run at.
Or, maybe you have an APAP and it was set up in straight pressure mode (CPAP) with Ramp settings.
Or, maybe you have an APAP and your breathing characteristics keep it at the max pressure.

On the bottom of your machine, the model number for an APAP would be a 550 or 560.
Some models ( Pro - 460 ) have a auto-trial mode which reverts to straight pressure after 30 nights of use.

If it's a data-capable machine ( 460 - 560 ), you need to use software like "Sleepyhead" to see what's happening during the night and the characteristics of your breathing.
