I have been examing my sleep with the help of Sleepyhead software with more questions than answers at times.
The goal is to keep the Apneas to a minimal (under 1 on the AHI/hr I believe) and its acheiveable I believe.
What I have found that my first sleep segment usally the most benificary and usally the second segment after arousal (pee break) the most AHI/hr, I find that I'm in a state of mind slumbering along a bit awake or subconscious sensation.
There are no doubt a host arousal issues from pain to noises or just the human clock of waking up a specific times.
As you can see on the chart that Its a good sleep until just after 4am (pee break) and then a weird slumper starts of being in a light sleep and I can sense my thoughts at times and ill regular breathing.
This kind of happening on a regular basis with nearing end of second segment of sleep the most active for Apenas.
I need some insight will help.

Cannuck 1,
I'd work on trying to sleep thru the night. To get there I don't drink anything after 2000 hours. Eliminate water right before going to bed.
Far as I'm concerned, an AHI of 1.24/hr is in acceptable range. Of course you'd like to see below 1.0 or even 0.0. But, stressing over it may be what's keeping you from getting there. I think the acceptable cutoff is 5 or below. So, actually you're doing great. Stop pissing around and it may go lower. Stressing over getting to a certain number may be counter productive.
More important is how do you feel? My AHI/hr ranges between 2.8 & .74. But, I usually feel great in the morning, so the actual number just doesn't mean that much to me. Mostly I watch the numbers to look for trends that may appear that I might need to see if I can change something for the better.
Work at trying to sleep the whole night thru. No matter what the numbers say, you'll probably feel better.
Cheers.

Yah I think you are right on Ahi #(# 's people can relate to it seems), I'm finding that the 1st segment showing a little more apnea's, 2nd segement less and at times 3rd segment with less.
Sleepyhead shows me that sleep apnea at times is like a moving target, most of the week my readings are <1 and starting to dream more.(not sure dreaming is a good thing if I'm remembering parts of it?)
