CPAP Head Pillow?

Post by RenW » Thu Dec 17, 2015 12:32 pm

I've been using a CPAP machine for years and not used any specific head pillow, but I end up having to tilt my head in particular ways because of the CPAP outtake. Lately I've been having more neck problems that aren't healing particular well which has led me to wonder if I shouldn't try out a bed pillow designed for people with CPAP masks.

Has anyone used any of these special pillows?

Recommendations? Considerations?

Thanks in advance!

Every once in a while the owner of this pillow gives the pillows to forum members for reviews. I received one and while it is adjustable and you are able to shape it for your mask, it was firm. I had always used a soft pillow and wondered if I could sleep with it, but I had the best night of sleep and was able to sleep on my side when for as long as I remember I was only sleeping on my stomach. I've been using it for a couple of months now and I'm glad I have it. It is filled with buckwheat hulls and some foam that makes it form to what you need.

I've got one of these PurSleep buckwheat hull pillows and like it a lot:

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I have a documented bad neck...to the point of having a metal plate in it because I had to have some vertebrae removed...
I have used the buckwheat pillow mentioned above (or its earlier form since it has gone through some improvements since my very first one) for over 6 years. Even if I didn't have to use a cpap machine I would use this pillow for the neck reasons alone.

What kind of problems are you having?

I, too thought I would not be able to use a firmer pillow, but, SURPRISE!
It is probably the last pillow I expect to ever buy.

If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

You could always try the new dreamwear mask. I saw a video review, and the guy could bury his face in the pillow with it.
